Remember my friend with the 8 week old Border Collie pup? She wants rid of it.
After less than two weeks.
I'm furious. Absolutely raging mad about this. Dogs are not a commodity you can just trade in when you've had enough!
Her reason? It's too much work. She has a two year old child and an 8 week old Border Collie pup...did she think it would be easy?? I've tried to get her to give it some time, let the kid and the dog get used to each other, let the poor pup settle into his new home and his new life, but I think it's fallen on deaf ears.
He's chewed through her kitchen door. Why was he in the kitchen? She shut him in there because he was too bouncy for the kid. Ok, fair enough. A time-out is always a good idea if things get too hyper. How long was he in there? "about an hour".............. *headdesk* You can't leave a new puppy for an hour, locked in another room when he can hear you on the other side of the door, with no entertainment and expect him not to chew/destroy something. Especially a BC. He's bored and frustrated. This is what they do!!
I'm gutted. I really wanted this to work out. I'd have him in a heartbeat if I thought we could give the pup the attention it needs. Unfortunately, with me working full time and Hamish's vet bills through the roof, it's not really possible.
Flist, my dear, wonderful, crazy flist....I'm afraid I have to leave you. I'll be gone for two weeks. Try not to have too much fun without me, k? and if you think there's something I absolutely have to see, just ping me a message/comment. :)
I will miss you all.
