--Ok, so now the full story...
I got to sleep just before 3am. I was woken up by Jyl just before 5am to tell me she thinks her water broke broke, and that she was having contractions. I start pumping adrenaline into my body to start metabolizing the trazadone in my system, so I can be awake enough to do stuff. She got her things ready in bags while I got dressed, and wandered about the house to make sure we had everything. We did, so off we were to the hospital.
--At the place of a familiar scene, but only this time...
Our main OB is Dr. Teicher. Luckily he was the on call doctor, so he already knew everything going on with us. He checked Jyl to make sure her water broke, but saw no signs of it actually happening. He checked her cervix next, and found that it was actually dilated 5cm, so he proclaimed, "well these babies are coming out today whether they like it or not." They were both breach (feet down instead of head down), which we knew, so we knew it was C-Section no matter what. We were going to have it done at around 8am, but do to circumstances I can't say right now she didn't get in until hours later. Dr. Teicher was no longer on duty, but we got the other doctor on duty who was also very nice. I called my mom at about 6:30am to let her know, so she got ready, and came straight over. She started calling friends and family, and Jyl did the same. My mom told the story of when I was born, which was also C-Section, so it related a lot to what was going on, and what to expect. At 11am they came to take Jyl to get her fully prepped for surgery.
--Behind door number OPERATING ROOM!!!!
I was put in full scrubs, as you could see in the picture. The only thing missing is the mask, but that came on later. I waited until the room was fully ready for me to come in. I was called in, camera in tow, and I went in to see Jyl already cut open. I held her hand, and looked over the the gown. Surgery doesn't bother me, so seeing her cut open with babies being pulled out was awesome. Baby A (who was the bigger one, and we had been calling James at this point) came out first, so he got the name of James Alexander. He arrived in this world at 11:47am. Baby B, or as he is fully known now as Logan Xavier, came into the world 2 minutes later, but they were both pulled into this world as they decided they really didn't want to come out. I went over to James to check him out, and got a little freaked when I saw an oxygen mask over Logan, but when I asked what was wrong they said his color wasn't right, but once they said that he fully pinked up, so he was perfectly fine. I was given the surgical scissors, and cut both their cords. I went back to Jyl to hold her hand.
--The NICU...
Not long after they brought both babies over to Jyl, so she could see them, and then they were off to the NICU. They were born 1 day after 35 weeks, so they are not premature, but they still are a bit earlier than they should have been. I took more pictures. Was given a folder with the NICU rules on it, and was told them. I visited them both as they are in their own section, but close together, and held their little hands. Took even more pictures. I didn't post them all because right now they all look the same, so I put up the best looking ones.
--Who do I look like???
As of right now it looks like they have my hair line, but who's type of hair isn't known. It is too short to tell, but it is jet black right now, so they have my color. They have my cleft chin, mouth, and cheeks. They do have Jyl's ears, nose, and maybe eyes. They have Native American eyes, and both me and Jyl have Native American genes. When my mom went into the NICU with me she said they had my eyes exactly when I was born, so I guess it's my eyes. They do have my feet and hands. They have huge hands and feet the both of them, so that makes me happy to know some of my "big" genes is in them.
--The measurements...
James was the biggest, but he always was in every ultrasound. His birth weight is 5 lbs 2.5oz, and he measures 18 3/4 inches long. For being early birds he was actually a really good size. I was told only a little more than an inch under full term length. Logan was the smaller one. He weighed in at 4 lbs 8.6oz. He however measures 18 1/2 inches, so he just didn't have as much meat on him as his brother, but we've known that. Again for being the runt he's still a good size.
--The questions and concerns...
After they ran the test, and Jyl was finally able to go up to the NICU from her room after recovery we started asking the questions. Both babies are having problems with their blood sugar being low. Jyl had gestational diabetes, so it could have carried over, but only temporarily. Once they started giving them some formula until Jyl can breast feed, James' blood sugar was getting better, and Logan wasn't far behind, but they are going to watch Logan a bit more closely. Nothing of a concern, but just to wait and see right now. When the doctor handling the NICU came over she told us they might be keeping them for 2 weeks. We were shocked by this, but we don't think it'll be that long. They only want to keep them that long because they were a bit early, and they want to make sure they are strong.
--Holding them for the first time...
Once questions were done Jyl held Logan first. They were both passed out, but they had a long day too. He started sucking his thumb right away pretty good, and that's a good sign. It's actually what they are looking for. I held him next for a bit. After that Jyl held James. He woke up, and through a couple of seconds fit, but quieted right down once Jyl took him in her arms. He just stared at her, and all around the place. It was hard to find a good spot to be able to hold him, so I didn't. I'll do it tomorrow. After that we went back to her room. I finished the dinner they brought me, and I came home. My mom is watching Ghabe for the weekend, so I can get stuff done...mainly sleep for tonight as I got 2 hours of it before being woken up to the oncoming of babies. Now that I have updated all of you on this I'm gonna have a small snack, and got to bed. Tomorrow I start cleaning the whole house to make sure everything is in order for when we can bring them home. Hopefully that will be within a week. Really I, and of course Jyl want our babies on either Xmas day or eve, because having babies for Xmas would be really nice.
Goodnight everyone, and don't worry any picture post I make will be behind a cut.
