When it hails...

Transit to Veneux was a fine one. Even made an acquaintance. Hail is fun, even when it chops you one right in the gob.

For some queer reason, my AC adapter has simply ceased to work. I'm using another one at the moment, but my battery is being temperamental. Even though the laptop is plugged into the local power, it's unreceptive and saps the battery, which only recharges when the computer is off. Except for now. It would be helpful if that lasted until I got my portfolio and postgrad applications done. My sights are set on a Creative Writing MA, because, to be frank, I haven't the slightest idea how to enter linguistics, and I do have a year to spare.

Leaving to the Alps on Friday for a week of skiing. Have a lot of reading to catch up on, from Dante's Inferno and Purgatorio to Homer's Odyssey, not to mention Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Burroughs' Naked Lunch. Will have to devise a project for my Virgil course, and exploring the references and links between such Greco-Roman classics and Joyce's Ulysses is not only too ambitious, though obvious, and of a dissertation resort, but it's not like I'm familiar enough.

Sorry for my absence yesterday, Jessi. Better luck on Thursday, perhaps.

P.S. This video justifies the mainstream music scene of 2001.
