On A Pathway To You
Chapter One: When Things Don't Go As Planned
Summary:Brian has planned on getting marrying to his boyfriend but then again things don't always go as planned. Would he be able to get his wishes or will life throw him in a new direction.
AN: I want to thank my betas Helen and Sunny. I couldn’t do this without them. They’re always watching out for me. Thanks guys. I know I’m supposed to be updating the other stories that I have out but the muse is kind of twisting my arm to post this new story. I hope you guys enjoy it and I should tell you guys before anything that it’s MPREG. I know some of you don’t like that.
Brian got to Debbie's house and parked the Jeep. He got out and took a deep breath. He smiled as he ran his hand over the box in his pants. He looked at his watch and frowned when he saw that he was about an hour late. He quickly locked up his car and walked to the house. He knocked twice before he went inside not letting anyone open the door.
"Look who decided to show up," Debbie said apparently not pleased.
Brian smirked and walked over to Michael. He bent down to kiss his boyfriend but Michael pulled away.
"You're late," Michael told him.
"I was working," Brian explained.
"Sure you were," Melanie scoffed.
The brunet glared in her direction. "Stay out of it."
"We already sang and cut the cake," Emmett pointed out.
Michael took a deep breath and got up. "I'm not in the mood for a fight, can you just leave?"
Brian looked around the table and his eyes landed on a new guy. "And who is this?"
"That's Ben," Michael said. "A friend of mine."
Brian didn't like him but he let it slide. "I bought you something."
Michael arched a brow and smiled slowly. "You did? You remembered that it's my birthday."
The brunet nodded with a smile and pulled Michael into his arms. "Do you want it?"
Michael nodded and before he knew what was going on he was being ravished by Brian. They had to stop when a few of the people at the table started shouting at them. Brian laughed and pulled away before he reached inside his pants and handed Michael the box.
The older of the two swallowed as he looked at the black velvet box in his hands. He stared at Brian for a very long time. Everyone on the table was growing impatient.
"Open it, Michael," Emmett told him.
"Today," Lindsay added and laughed.
"Yeah, let's see," Ted replied after them.
"Brian?" Debbie asked.
"What?" he asked as he stared at his boyfriend.
"What is that?" Debbie asked.
"Why don't you let Mikey find out," Brian answered the woman.
Michael quickly opened the box and found a ring. He felt his knees shaking as he looked at it. "Jesus," he whispered.
Debbie quickly got up and smiled when she saw it. She pulled Brian into a big hug. When Brian was able to pull away he walked towards Michael, grabbed the ring and put it on his boyfriend.
"Big fucking deal," Melanie said. "That doesn't mean anything."
"Mel," Debbie said. "Stop it."
Melanie rolled her eyes. "It's the truth. You think that because Brian buys him a ring, things are going to change?"
"Melanie," Lindsay whispered. "Please stop it."
Brian huffed as he listened to the brunette.
"You know that Brian doesn't really care about him," Melanie said. "If he did he would stop all his tricking and be here for Michael when he needed him. Tonight for example, where was he? Fucking one of his tricks."
"I said I was working," Brian told her.
"Shut the fuck up," Jesse said looking at the brunette. "You're ruining my brother's moment here."
"What I'm saying is the truth," she said.
"Melanie Marcus," Debbie hissed. "That's enough."
The whole table was silent.
"I really like it Brian," Michael told him as he looked at the ring he was now wearing. "Does this mean you and I…"
Brian smirked and nodded before he pulled Michael into his arms and kissed him hard. "That means we're getting married."
"Jeez, get a room," Jesse said laughing.
Most of them laughed at that.
***
Brian was sitting outside of Debbie's house having a cigarette. He took a long drag as he thought about everything. He was out there trying to calm his nerves. The door opened and Brian looked back to see who it was. He smiled a bit when he saw Vic.
"Hey," Vic said. "Are you okay? Don't tell me, you're having cold feet."
Brian shrugged.
"Two more days, Brian," Vic said.
Brian nodded at that. "Can you believe it?"
Vic laughed a bit. "I never thought the day would come when you would get married."
"Me neither," Brian told him.
They both laughed.
"Do you think I'm making a mistake?" Brian asked taking a drag from his cigarette.
Vic frowned. "Why would you ask me that?"
"What if everyone is right and I'm not ready for this?" Brian asked. "It wasn't even supposed to be this quick but Michael couldn't wait. I just asked him like a month ago."
The older man smiled. "Do you love him Brian?"
"I've always have," Brian informed him.
"Are you in love with him?" Vic asked.
Brian frowned and then looked at the older man. "Yeah," he said but didn't sound convinced. "Of course I am."
Vic patted him on the back. "Then you got nothing to worry about," he said but he himself was worried.
Brian rubbed his face. "Yeah," he whispered.
"Let's go back inside," Vic told him. "It's a bit chilly out here."
The taller man nodded and they went back inside. Debbie was serving everyone pie in the living room. Michael was awfully quiet as he sat next to Lindsay which was strange because they were always talking a lot, if not Michael would be playing with Gus. The brunet looked at Ben and something in him wanted to go over to the man and punch his lights out. Michael kept saying they were friends but there was always a nagging sensation at the pit of his stomach that something had happened between them.
"Do you want to go?" Brian asked as he leaned in from behind his boyfriend.
"I'm okay," Michael assured him. "You smell like cigarettes."
Brian moved back. He scratched his left eyebrow and went to sit on the table where Ted was.
"Brian," Ted said. "Cynthia told me that tomorrow there is a meeting. Do you want me to go?"
Brian nodded. "Please," he said.
"Is everything okay?" Ted asked.
The brunet nodded. "I'm just nervous about starting a new business."
"Have you told anyone?" Ted asked lowering his voice.
Brian shook his head. "Tomorrow we find out if we get the loan. If we do then we'll be able to buy an office and start hiring people."
Ted hoped with all his heart for that to happen. He liked what Brian had promised him. He would be in charge of finances with everything concerning Kinnetik. It was a dream turning into reality.
"What are you guys talking about?" Emmett asked as he rested his hand on the back of Ted's neck.
"Nothing much," Brian said.
"Are you guys going to Babylon?" Emmett asked.
Brian shook his head. "Not tonight."
"Be still my heart," Emmett said and bent down so he could kiss the brunet on the cheek. "I'm so happy for you Brian. You're a changed man."
"Get out of here," the man said playfully as he pushed Emmett away.
Ted smiled and felt happy for Brian too. He liked seeing Brian smiling. The man was much nicer since he and Michael had started dating. He looked at Brian who was staring at Ben. He looked at the man who was shaking his head vigorously at Michael before turning to look at Brian. He wondered what Ben was doing with Michael all of the time but he was sure that it was nothing that they had to worry about.
"Where is your brother, Michael?" Debbie asked.
"Upstairs," Michael answered and shrugged.
"Jesse!" Debbie yelled. "Come down here."
"I'm busy!" the kid yelled back.
"Jesus," Vic commented as everyone yelled.
"Everything okay?" Ted asked when he saw that Brian was deep in thoughts. He knew there was something going on with Brian.
"Yeah," Brian said. "Perfect."
The brunet got up and once again went outside to smoke another cigarette and calm himself. He kept asking everyone if he should get married and they kept saying it was great. Yet he felt trapped. He supposed it was only him getting cold feet after all.
***
"Jesse!" Debbie yelled with all her might.
Jesse who was used to his mother screaming all the time didn't bother to move from the bed. He spent most of his time in his room. He and his brother used to share it before but as soon as Michael turned eighteen he got his own apartment. So he got out the twin beds and got his own big bed.
"Jesse!" Debbie shouted again.
The teen sighed and got up. He walked out of the room and from the top of the stairs shouted back. "What is it, Ma?"
"Get dressed and let's go. Michael and Brian are in the hospital," she told him.
Jesse quickly went back into his room and put on his shoes before he grabbed his jacket. Then he was going down the stairs as fast as he could.
"What's going on?" Jesse asked. "Ma, are they okay?"
"I don't know baby," he told her. "Come on. We have to take a taxi."
Jesse nodded and the two of them left the house. When they got there Ted and Emmett were already there.
"What happened?" she asked.
"They won't tell us anything," Emmett told him. "Now that you're here we can find out what happened."
Debbie went in search of answers and the guys were right there behind her. They informed her that Brian had a concussion but that he was going to be okay. Michael was going to be okay as well but he had a broken arm. They were informed that they could see them but that they had to let them rest. A while after that Melanie and Lindsay arrived.
Jesse was in the room with Michael talking to him and laughing when Lindsay came inside. Debbie was on the phone talking to Vic telling him that everything was okay and that he didn't had to come down to the hospital. Emmett and Ted were waiting outside with Melanie.
"How's Brian?" Michael asked in a groggy voice.
"I don't know," Lindsay said. "I haven't checked on him yet."
"Jesse," Michael said. "Go see him, please. Stay with him and make sure he's okay."
The teen groaned as he got up from the chair. "Fine."
The cops came to take Michael's statement and said they would come back later for Brian because the man was still asleep. One by one they all got to see Michael. Debbie was the one that stayed the longest with him.
"Do you know when they are going to be able to come home?" Debbie asked the doctor.
"A day or two," he answered. "Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Can I stay with my son?" Debbie asked.
The doctor sighed and nodded slowly. "Okay, but he needs to rest."
"Thank you doctor," she told him.
"That cop was hot," Emmett said smirking at Ted.
Ted laughed and nodded.
"Michael could get in a lot of trouble you know," Melanie said.
"What do you mean?" Debbie asked worried.
"Oh," Melanie said. "When the cops came Michael told the cops he was the one driving the Jeep. But I'm sure Brian was the one driving," she said. "He probably was drunk out of his mind."
"That fucking asshole," Debbie hissed. "He's going to get a piece of my mind."
Jesse looked up when the door to Brian's room opened.
"Brian?" Debbie asked.
Brian groaned. "What?"
"You're such a fucking asshole," Debbie hissed. "You could have killed my son. What were you thinking?"
"You don't care about anyone Brian," Melanie hissed at him.
"And now Michael can get in trouble because of you," Debbie spat out.
"What are you talking about?" Brian asked. "Jesus, shut the fuck up. My head hurts."
"Good," Debbie hissed. "You don't even have a scratch on you while my poor baby must be in pain."
"Brian," Lindsay said sadly. "You never learn."
"When are you going to change?" Emmett asked. "You guys could have gotten really injured. Then what?"
"Fuck off," Brian said. "Just leave me alone."
"I don't know why Michael bothers," Melanie told him.
"Come on," Emmett said. "Let's go."
After they left Brian turned to look at Jesse. The teen had come into his room sat on a chair and hadn't said anything. "Well," he said. "Aren't you going to say anything?"
Jesse bit his lower lip. "Uh, where you drinking?"
"Yeah," Brian replied.
"Were you driving?" Jesse asked him.
"No," Brian answered. "Michael said he was going to drive us home. I wanted to fight him because I've driven like that before and gotten home just fucking fine. But no, he had to use his ways to convince me. If I had fucking drove this would have never happened, you know."
Jesse laughed.
"What are you doing here?" Brian asked. "God, I'm hurting."
"You poor baby," the teen said leaning back. He sighed and stretched. He got up and turned off the light before he went back to the chair.
"Are you staying the night?" Brian asked.
"I don't know," Jesse said. "Michael told me to look after you."
"I'm not a baby," Brian pointed out.
The teen chuckled. "Shut up and go to sleep or I'll start singing and your head will really hurt."
Brian smirked at that and closed his eyes. He didn't plan on going to sleep but before he knew it, he was doing just that. Jesse got up when he heard the slight snoring. He caressed Brian's forehead and kissed it before he left the room. Then he went to his brother's room and did the same with Michael before he was taking a ride home with Emmett and Ted.
***
Brian came into the loft looking for Michael. "Michael," he called.
"I'm in the bedroom," Michael said.
"You're not going to guess what happened," Brian said smiling.
Michael sighed as he put some of his things in a bag.
"What are you doing?" Brian asked.
"I'm going to stay a few days with Em," Michael told him using just his good arm. The other one was in a cast and he had a sling around his neck.
"Why the fuck?" Brian asked.
The older man shook his head and turn to face his lover. "Guess what I found out today?"
Brian loosened his tie. "What's that?"
"That you took a loan," Michael said. "The bank called here."
"So?" Brian asked. "It's for the business I'm starting."
"I imagined it was something like that," Michael muttered.
Brian walked over to him and pulled Michael to him. "What's going on?"
"Why didn't you tell me?" Michael asked.
"It wasn't a big deal," the brunet said shrugging it off.
"But it is," Michael said pulling away. "You, sometimes, act like everything is about you."
"It is my business," Brian pointed out.
"Do you really want to get married?" Michael asked as he arched a brow.
Brian frowned as he stared at his boyfriend. "Of course I do," he assured him. They already had to postpone everything because of the accident, he wondered if they would ever get married. "Why are you asking me that?" the brunet asked getting his blazer off. "Why the fuck would I have asked you?"
Michael sighed and shook his head lightly. "I don't know."
"It's that asshole's fault, isn't it?" Brian asked. "He's been talking shit about me."
"This is about you and me, Brian," Michael told him. "Ben has nothing to do with this."
"Are you sure?" Brian asked shaking his head as he started to undress.
"You still don't get it do you?" Michael asked.
"What's the piece of the puzzle that I'm missing this time?" Brian asked getting irritated.
The older man shook his head. "God, Brian," he said.
"Michael," Brian whispered. "I'm trying the best I can," he told him.
"You shouldn't have to try so hard Brian," Michael told him. "I'm tired of having to work so hard for our relationship to see the light of day."
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" the brunet asked. "You know that I never have been in a relationship before! You know that! I told you it wasn't going to be easy. But you wanted to try it anyway. I given you so many things that nobody has ever gotten."
"Should I be doing a happy dance now?" Michael asked. "Should I feel like the lucky guy?"
The brunet pinched the bridge of his nose.
Michael walked toward Brian and stood in front of him. Using his good arm he put his hand on Brian's shoulder. "I'm tired of you not trusting me. Why didn't you tell me?" the man asked as he looked at Brian.
The younger man shook his head. "I can't believe this. I didn't tell you about this because I wasn't sure. It happened so fast, Michael. I actually was coming home to tell you about it."
"After it was done," Michael told him.
The brunet nodded. He didn't want to tell Michael in case his plans didn't go through. "I wasn't sure it was going to work."
"If we're going to be married you have to be able to tell me everything," Michael said. "And whether we fail or triumph, we do it together."
"I know," Brian muttered. "But it's so hard."
"Oh is it?" Michael hissed as he pulled back.
"I'll try to remember that Michael," Brian went after him and put his hands on Michael's neck. He tried to kiss him but Michael pulled away.
"Fuck Brian!" Michael hissed. "You think everything can be solved with sex!"
The brunet felt hurt. "No…I just want to celebrate with you. I thought…I said I was going to try."
"And I said I was going to stay a few days with Emmett," Michael told him.
"I'm tired of this shit," Brian said. "Every time you get angry at me or I don't do something right you run away."
"I need to think about a few things," Michael said.
"This is so fucking hard, Michael," Brian informed him.
Michael glared at the brunet. "Oh is it?"
Brian nodded slowly.
"Then let me make it easy for you, Brian," Michael yelled.
The brunet looked at Michael with an arched brow.
"It's over!" Michael said. "I'm tired of fighting with you all of the time, Brian. This shouldn't be hard. It just shouldn't."
Brian rolled his lips inside his mouth. Then he took a deep breath. "I didn't mean it like that."
"You never mean anything do you?!" Michael asked grabbing some jeans and throwing them inside the duffel bag.
"Michael," Brian said putting his hands on Michael's shoulders. "You don't mean that."
The older man stopped to think about everything. He looked up at Brian and shook his head. "I don't, but I still think that I should stay with Emmett for a few days."
The brunet nodded and let go of Michael.
"I'll call you," Michael told him before he collected a few more things.
Brian shook his head as he headed for the bathroom quickly. He was staring at himself in the mirror when he heard the door slide open and then close again. He licked his lips and brushed the single tear coming down his face. He sniffed and wondered how things had gone so wrong.
***
Michael sat on the booth and smiled at his brother. "Hey, what are you doing?"
"Homework," Jesse told him. "This is going to be the last of it because in two weeks classes are over. Well, at least until I start college."
"Have you received any letters?" Michael asked.
"Jesus," Brian said standing in front of Michael and cutting the men's conversation short. "It's raining cats and dogs out there."
Michael looked up at his boyfriend. "Are you okay?"
"Sure," the brunet said. "Hey, squirt," the man said looking at Jesse.
"Bri-Bri," the teen said in a childish tone. "Looking good there," he mocked.
Brian frowned at that. He and Michael still had a few visible bruises from the accident. He couldn't wait until they went away. He ignored what Jesse was saying. "Don't call me that," he warned as he sat down.
"You don't scare me," Jesse told him. "Stop calling me squirt."
Michael laughed as he watched his boyfriend and brother arguing. "Stop it you two."
"Hey," Jesse said putting his notebook down. "I heard that you're going to be in a photo shoot with Justin Timberlake, is that true?"
"I'm not going to be in it, I'm just going to be there," the man explained. Brian arched a brow and leaned back. "What are you going to do for me if I take you with me?"
"I won't kill you in the middle of your sleep," Jesse told him. "And I promise I'll stop spitting on your salads."
"Ugh," Michael protested. "That's disgusting, Jesse."
Brian and the teen laughed at that.
"Oh come on, Brian, please," Jesse said and gave him his best puppy eye. "I never miss any classes and I have good grades. I deserve it. Please, pretty please."
Brian rolled his eyes and then looked towards Debbie. "Go tell your mom that you're coming with me to New York."
"You're the best!" Jesse hissed as he jumped from the booth.
"Jesus, Brian," Michael said laughing. "Ever since we were little all Jesse has to do is give you his puppy eye face and you're sold. Are you going to be this tough when we have kids?"
Brian laughed. "I will be tough. Jesse is, well, he is...he's Jesse."
Michael smiled because he pretty much couldn't deny his brother anything. "You're right. Thanks for taking him. And please don't go taking him to any clubs out there. You hear me?"
Brian only grinned.
"Hey," Jesse said coming back. He started to close his notebook because his break was over and he had to go back to work. "Ma said it was okay, but she said she would have your balls on a platter if you take me to any clubs. I'll be back to take your order," he said smiling.
"Hurry up," Brian answered and looked at his boyfriend. "It's scary how much like Debbie you are."
Michael laughed at that and shook his head. "So, are we going to go on that trip that we planned?"
Brian straightened up on the booth. "I can't."
Michael smiled sadly. "I'm not surprised."
Brian sighed at that. "Look, maybe later we can do it. You know I have to work a lot to get the things we have."
"It's not fair," Michael told him. "We barely spend time anymore, Brian. God, I hate it."
Brian wanted to point out that Michael was the one that wasn't staying at the loft anymore, but kept quiet. He didn't want to start an argument. The brunet leaned back and put his hand on Michael's lower back. "I'll make it up to you," he replied softly.
The dark haired man didn't say anything. He was tired that he always came in second.
***
The brunet came home to find Michael making his bags and by the looks of it, this time Michael was taking everything with him. The man looked surprised to see Brian there. Brian stood in their bedroom wondering what the fuck was going on. He looked at Michael and then at Ben, who was there with his partner, before looking at Michael again.
"You're home early," Michael pointed out.
"You're packing," the brunet replied as he loosened his tie.
"Um," Michael said as he looked around. "I…I'm going to…"
"What?" Brian asked as he stared at his boyfriend. "Spit it out."
"I'm going to go back with Em," Michael told him. "For a while at least."
"I see," Brian murmured. "When were you going to tell me? Oh, wait, you weren't."
"Of course I was," Michael assured him.
"The only reason you're telling me this is because I'm here. I got out of work early so I could come home and spend some time with you," Brian told him. "You were the one that ask me to be around. Why even bother, Mikey?"
Michael sighed and looked towards Ben. "Could you give us a second?"
Ben nodded and walked to the door. He got out and slid it close.
"Brian," Michael said. "Things aren't working."
The brunet looked to where Ben had left. "I see why."
"He has nothing to do with this," Michael assured him.
Brian shook his head. "I can't fucking believe you! Why the fuck are you doing this?!"
Michael opened his mouth to say something but knew that Brian wasn't going to really listen to anything he was going to say.
"He wants you," Brian commented.
The older man stopped. "Even if that was true it has nothing to do with me and you. You and I are over, Brian. You know that. I don't even know what else to do but you just...you won't work on this the way is supposed to."
The brunet kept quiet. He moved away to get something to drink.
"If I left anything I'll come back for it later," Michael said as he grabbed his stuff. Then he left.
Brian went to the bedroom and searched the closet. The man had taken everything with him. He changed into his club clothes and left the loft. He needed a drink fast. In the back of his mind he kept thinking that he could fix things. He knew what he had to do to make the dark haired man come back to him.
The brunet went to Woody's and started drinking like there was no tomorrow. Then he kept going to the restroom followed by whatever guy had approached him in the first place. All he wanted to do was forget the kind of day he was having.
"Let's get out of here," Francis said smiling as he licked Jesse's neck. "Mmm, I want you to fuck me."
Jesse smiled and nodded. He was walking with the red head teen when he stopped and turned to look at the man that was currently by Brian's Jeep puking his brains out. When he took a step closer his eyes opened wide when he realized it was the brunet. "Brian?!"
Brian didn't even bother to look at the teen. He fell down on his knees and put one hand on the floor. He closed his eyes and wished everything stopped moving around him.
"Brian," Jesse whispered as he neared the man.
Brian shook his head and pushed whoever was touching him. "Fuck off."
"We should go," Francis told him.
"Come on, Francis," Jesse said. "You have to help me get him in his car."
"He's not our problem," Francis answered.
"If you don't help me you won't be getting a piece of me ever again," Jesse warned him.
"God Jesse," Francis complained as he helped the dark haired teen get Brian up. "Didn't you just tell me that he and your brother broke up?"
"Yeah, but Brian and Michael were friends before. I grew up with him too and Brian is like a brother to me too," Jesse explained. "Okay," he said once they had managed to sit the brunet on the passenger seat.
"Now what?" Francis asked.
"I'm driving him home," Jesse told him.
"I thought we were going to fuck?" Francis said.
"Some other time," Jesse told him. "I'll call you."
"You got to be fucking kidding me, Jesse," Francis said pissed. "Come on."
Jesse searched for the keys on Brian's pockets and smiled when he found them. Then he got on the Jeep as well and started it.
"This is so fucked up and you know it," Francis said shaking his head. "Don't bother to call me."
Jesse rolled his eyes knowing that Francis didn't mean that. He drove out of there and to Brian's building. When he got there it was pretty hard trying to get the brunet to walk on a straight line, or at all for that matter.
"We're almost there, Brian," Jesse told him.
By the time the younger man dropped Brian on the bed he was sure he had pulled a muscle. He undressed the brunet and threw the covers on top of him. He was about to leave when Brian's voice stopped him.
"What was that, Brian?" Jesse asked.
"Don't leave," Brian muttered.
Jesse bit his lower lip and undressed. He stayed on his briefs before he jumped in bed with Brian. He felt Brian's arms wrapped around him and he arched a brow.
"I love you, Mikey," Brian told him.
Jesse looked at Brian with pain in his eyes. "Go to sleep," he said and kissed Brian on the forehead. "It will be okay."
Brian nodded and went to sleep holding on to the teen.
***
Brian had a few drinks before he headed for the backroom. He had some tension that he needed to release. He knew that as soon as he got there they would come to him like always. He looked around at the different guys down there with him before he found the perfect spot. In seconds two guys were all over him. He closed his eyes and tried to relax when he heard a familiar voice.
"No," Jesse hissed. "I told you that I wasn't going to bottom for you. You said you were okay with it," the teen told him.
"I changed my mind," the man said smirking. "You'll like it," he said as he pinned the teen to the wall.
"Let me go," Jesse shouted.
"Relax," The dark haired man told him. "Just go with it."
"Fuck you!" the teen growled and shut his eyes when the man's hand grabbed his ass. He didn't know what he was thinking when he'd come down there with the man.
The guy reached to the front of Jesse to undo the teen's jeans but was pulled away and suddenly he was the one being pushed against the wall.
"He said no," Brian told him in a deadly tone. "Did you not hear it?"
"This is none of your fucking business, Kinney," the man told him.
"It is when you mess with him," Brian said and looked at the guy dead on the eyes. "You touch him ever again and I will kill you."
"Oh shit," Jesse said under his breath. He couldn't believe what had almost happened to him. "I'm…let's go Brian."
Brian nodded and let go of the guy before he left the backroom with the teen. Once they were back at the bar Brian bought them a couple of beers.
"Thanks," Jesse whispered after he took a sip from his.
"Don't ever go down there with someone double your size," Brian told him. "Or alone."
"I know," Jesse said. "I just…never mind."
Brian arched a brow.
"How are you doing?" Jesse asked. "How did you wake up this morning?"
The brunet looked at Jesse and smirked. "Did you kick me while I was sleeping?"
The teen laughed. "Please, I don't kick," the boy assured him. "You remember it was me?"
"Who else would it have been?" Brian asked raising a brow.
Jesse rose the bottle to his mouth and drank from it. "So, where is everyone?"
Brian shrugged. "I don't know and I don't care."
The teen laughed knowing how Brian always pretended to be so tough. Ever since he could remember Brian had been around him and yes, Brian was tough, but he also had feelings like anybody else.
"What are you doing here by yourself?" Brian asked knowing that when the teen came to Babylon someone was always with him.
Jesse shrugged. "I wanted to be out of the house and came here."
The brunet shook his head.
Jesse sighed and looked around the dance floor. "I was with Francis but we had a fight and he left me."
Brian laughed at that. "It's not easy dealing with you Jesse."
"Oh shut up," Jesse told him and swatted the man playfully on the arm.
The older man laughed. He was looking around Babylon when he spotted Michael, Ted, Emmett and Ben. He put his bottle down and thought it was best if he left. "I'll see you around."
Jesse frowned as he looked at the brunet not sure what had happened. Then he saw his brother and he knew what was going on. He bit his lower lip and went after the brunet. Once outside he ran after the man. "Brian!"
"Jesse?" Brian asked as he turned around. "What are you doing out here?"
"You didn't really have to leave," Jesse said. "You're still our friend."
The man laughed as he pushed his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "I'm going to the baths because there isn't anybody hot for me to fuck here. That's all."
"Okay," the teen whispered.
The brunet cleared his throat.
"Uh," the teen said walking closer. "Do you think that this is it? With you and my brother, I mean."
"He has Ben now," Brian told him.
"He keeps bringing him to the house and saying that they are just friends," Jesse said. "But I know better. I think he's just waiting a while before he tells everyone."
The brunet licked his lips.
"Why don't you fight for him?" Jesse asked smiling.
Brian snickered. "I don't go after anyone, Jesse."
The teen sighed. "My brother loves you."
"I'm sure he does," Brian replied. "Go back."
"He does, Brian," Jesse said. "He called me crying because he didn't know who to…"
"Choose?" Brian asked when the teen stopped talking. He had known it all along that Michael had something going on with Ben.
"I didn't mean to…God, Brian. It's hard for him sometimes because you're so complicated," Jesse told him.
The brunet grunted something under his breath.
"That's not an excuse, I know," Jesse said and sighed. "Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead."
The older man laughed at that.
"I'm going to go home," Jesse said. "I'll see you."
Jesse started walking away then. Brian went to his Jeep and got inside before he went after the teen. He smiled when Jesse looked at him.
"Get in," Brian said.
"I'm not going to the baths," Jesse assured him and then grinned at the man. He'd only been there once and he'd come out running out of the place.
The other man laughed and nodded towards the seat. Jesse opened the door to the Jeep and got inside. He put his seatbelt on and bit his lower lip.
"Brian," Jesse said after a while.
"What is it, Jesse?" Brian asked wondering what the teen would say now.
"Well," he said. "If is it's any consolation, I think that you're way hotter than Ben."
Brian smirked. "Thanks," he muttered before he drove to Jesse's house. At first he thought it would be okay getting over Michael. For a person like him it shouldn't be so hard to forget the man but he was having more trouble than he thought. He could do what Jesse was telling him and fight for Michael but what was the point when it was more than obvious that Michael wanted someone to love him the right way and apparently he wasn't it.
