The Doctor thinks he understands now. The way the Face of Boe always seemed to know him. It was because he did. It was Jack. That was how he had known to tell him that he wasn't alone, that there was another Time Lord left after all. The Master.
Jack was the Face of Boe. The Doctor couldn't help but give a bittersweet smile as he thought back on his second trip to New Earth. So his immortal friend would finally get his wish. He would die, saving the world no less. How like Jack.
