Now, when Bobby glances back, there is no smile, no waving. Just a cold look his eyes, a cold sad look, and it almost looks like betrayal.
Their boy, their star, walking away from them for the last time. Their boy, their little liar, their flesh and their blood and his mutation.
Flames still cover their lawn, and there’s one other boy looking back. But his look is different, his look is heat.
His look is hatred.
His eyes stay on them longer than Bobby’s, and that’s the worst part of all as they say goodbye without words for the very last time.
