Three Wolf Peak didn't have an emergency room, per se. Joe had his office, and there was the clinic, and the college had its own medical facilities. The college also had its own staff, which meant late night emergencies were more likely to find help there.
He wished sometimes he had empathic powers, to help people more effectively. Fire wasn't much use when checking temperatures or setting a broken arm.
But he did his best, and never turned anyone away. Sometimes he might get paid in trade; sometimes he might not get paid at all. But he was a doctor.
