At some point he would die. The only question was, whether it would be sooner instead of later. If it were sooner, she could move on. She did love him; but she also accepted that if he died sooner rather than later, there would be new possibilities.
Sometimes she daydreamed about it: what she would do, how the family would handle it, when would be a good time to begin dating again, whether she herself was now too old to safely appeal to anyone.
Other days, she chastised herself for even thinking such things, because she probably still loved him.
