I completely adored 'Inheritence'. That last line is just so perfect. Sends me off on all kinds of musings on what Rufus might discover he really, truely wants if he dares to dig deep enough. Loved the mention of Dark Nation too. Really, Dark Nation was the only being he could ever trust completely and I think he would miss it more than he would ever admit. This whole piece has such a meloncholy feel to it.

Oh Auron! I haven't read anything on him in ages but 'In the Ruin' is just wonderful. I loved these lines -
Desire is suffering is illusion. The things we hold, hold us.
He was the character that grabbed me the most in FF10 and you've captured his whole feel here in so few words. Beautifully done.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked them, and I totally agree on Dark Nation as perhaps the only one Rufus could trust completely. I'm glad the melancholy came through. As for Auron, he was probably my single favorite character in that entire game, and he strikes me as extremely difficult to get right, so it's good to know you think I captured him well here. Thanks again!
I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU WRITING FOR OUR FAVORITE MEGALOMANIAC. The line, flies low over lights that shine like dragon's gold," was particularly beautiful, so I just wanted to point that out first.
Secondly, I love it when Rufus is depicted as ambivalent in some way, even if just internally, and not just a power hungry villain. I also totally fangirl hard after any commentary on Rufus and Dark Nation (apparently my OTP...ahem, not in that way), so I loved that reference too.
I'm afraid I can't comment on the X one because I've never played the game! Though me and deadcellredux have a play through slated to happen this fall (re-play for her; my first time...she assures me my soul will wither and die but that I will want to write lots of fanfiction).
Thank you! Rufus strikes me as a very ambivalent character in some ways, and I feel like the way he relates to Dark Nation is a good example of that in the sense that I think that he cares more for that animal, in his own way, than he does for any human.
Regarding X, there were aspects that I loved and aspects I found disappointing, but in balance I think it was a good and very sad addition to the series. I hope you like it, and I hope you write lots of fanfiction.
