She remembers being alone.
She remembers being scared.
She remembers the dark and damp of the warehouses.
She remembers the sound of rats scurrying.
She remembers the fear and the confusion and not knowing what the hell was going on, what had happened to her.
She remembers sleeping on dirty mattresses that burnt her nostrils with their stale smell.
She remembers crying and rocking and no one caring.
She remembers drunks and junkies, their blood tainted with chemicals.
She remembers the darkness and the thought that this was where she belonged.
She remembers being a monster.
She remembers it all.

She was surrounded by people -- her coworkers, her family, her friends -- but Anne Becker was still alone. No matter how many people were in a room with her, she was still and always alone.
She missed him, missed him more than she would've thought it possible to miss someone you loved but hadn't even told.
She might not've had him, but she still had reminders of him. The handful of pictures that'd been taken of the two of them, the shirt he'd left at her place one night, even the outfit she'd worn that first night they'd been together counted as a reminder of him in a strange way.
But she didn't have him. And on her worst nights, she thought maybe she never would again.

He runs. Away from the bodies, from the blood, from the horrific evidence of what they had done. What he had done. The words get twisted up in his brain - he him they them - until even he can't straighten them out anymore. Who is he? He is Anders. He is Justice. He is Vengeance. He is at once everything and nothing of what he was before. He is no man and he is no spirit. He is both. He is neither. Nothing is clear anymore. Nothing, except his cause ( ... )
