Rodney KNEW this was the place. Well he said that the last couple of times before the last couple of places they searched for him, but this time he was so positive that this was the place he could feel it in his bones.

As he walked along the corridors he could hear the gunfire erupting in the background. He finally came to a door he knew was the one. And he was right; lounging on his back on what looked like an uncomfortable bench was…

“John,” He whispered.

John yawned and stretched. Thankfully other than the manacle attached to his wrist, he was unharmed. With a smile Rodney ran over and took John’s face in his hands.

“Took ya long enough,” He said.

“Sorry about that,” Rodney replied caressing his cheek with his thumb, “had to search the ends of the earth to find you.”

John gave a teasing grin.

“Well was it worth it?”

“Definitely.”

And with that he placed a gentle kiss on his lover’s soft lips.

Lost at Sea

As it turns out, when Mal wakes up again, there's nobody and nothing there but the hum of Serenity's engine, precious air running clear through her vents, proof in a sound that he's not dreaming, that he had fixed the ship.

That is, he thinks there's nobody else in the infirmary, until River peeks around the door, slides in like a creature afraid of being hunted.

“I cleared your trail,” she says, coming up next to him, voice so soft as to blend in with the engine's purr. “Serenity didn't like being painted red.”

Doc did say he'd lost a lot of blood, and the way his body burns every time he takes a breath would seem to confirm that theory. Figures most of it would have ended up decorating Serenity, and that River'd be the one to notice a little thing like that, follow it around the ship. “Can't say as I liked getting her that way,” he says, forming words through lips that don't care to work quite right. “Hope it didn't put you girls out ( ... )
