They never said this would be easy, when you put your hand to the side of that cube. It wasn't easy when the Andalite asked you about your mother, or when you ran away from him and hid, or when you watched him die.

They never said this would be easy, when you chose to fight. It wasn't easy when you stood up against people you hardly knew, or when you told them there wasn't a choice anymore, or when you knew Jake had to lead you but you didn't know how to say it.

They never said this would be easy, when you went down to the Pool that night. It wasn't easy when you heard the screaming, or when you saw the people in cages, or when you escaped and realized that you would never be human again.

They never said this would be easy, when you fought and fought and fought. It wasn't easy when you woke up screaming in your head, or when Taylor tortured you with pleasure, or when you watched your friends flee bloody from massacres nearly every night.

They never said this would be easy, when you fell in love. It wasn't easy when you were a bird and she was a girl, or when you watched her lose herself more and more in bloodlust, or when you had to watch her die.
