Gripping the ships railing tightly, Dr. Nicholas Rush breathed deeply through his nose, allowing the air to come out through his mouth slowly. It was just another day on Destiny, except that this particular day was shattered like a piece of glass, and now he stood there, staring at the pieces, and wondering if he could have prevented the disaster.

Tamara Johansen had approached him one day, taking him to the side and asking her to come with him. It was then that he found out that Chloe Armstrong was pregnant. They had kept their relationship quiet for many reasons, specifically, because Chloe felt that it would estrange her already distant friendship with Matthew Scott, or even perhaps, Eli.
Everything changed, suddenly. There were no secrets, and the mission, well; the mission seemed like child’s play compared to the sudden task thrust before him. The fondest memories he had of the entire ordeal were when they would lay together at night, and she’d giggle softly as he would slowly run his hand across her budding stomach, in complete awe whenever it would move.
“Seems to have your feisty attitude,” he commented one night, smiling at her.
“Let’s hope it doesn’t have your attitude,” she giggled, laying her head on his chest.
After that, everything somehow went horribly wrong. They were in the infirmary for a simple check-up when the ship had been attacked, the infirmary rocked back and forth warily.
“Stay here.” Dr. Rush put his hand to Chloe’s stomach protectively and smiled at her reassuringly, and she nodded in return, her eyes filled with a longing wish for him to stay.
“Don’t worry,” TJ assured him as he began to leave, and he nodded, knowing that she would protect Chloe.
The drones in this area had started their kamikaze attacks again, and they simply had to jump to FTL to get rid of them, although plotting the jump was never a quick task, he attempted to work with Eli as quickly as possible. A few drones hit, and then they jumped. It seemed so simple, and yet nobody had realized that one of the drones had hit a crucial part of the ship - the infirmary.

“…Should have let you come with me…should have…” He stared out at the black sea of stars and a tear rolled down his eye, reminding him that he had lost all that once was.
