“My offer is simple.” Madara adjusted his grip around Sasuke’s neck, ignoring the weak buzz of electrical chakra that tingled partway up his arm. All of his focus was on the jinchuuriki - he’d underestimated him once. Madara wouldn’t repeat the mistake. “I’ll hand Sasuke over to Konoha,” he went on, his hold stifling any feeble attempts at rising, “in exchange for you.”
Naruto didn’t bat an eye. He’d seen it coming. The only movement he made was to flicker his eyes to Sasuke, where they softened.
Madara didn’t expect him to comply. Naruto had proven wise for his age, and friends or not, trading his life for Sasuke’s was impossible for his cause. Having planned on disposing of Sasuke from the beginning, Madara was simply taking this opportunity to deal what damage he could to the enemy’s morale.
So he was surprised when Naruto suddenly dropped his gaze, the red markings around his eyes fading. “…All right.”
The muscles in Sasuke’s throat tensed - Madara shifted his thumb and pressed it against the boy’s sensitive trachea, deftly choking the objection before it could rise.
A Senju for an Uchiha… He tilted his head curiously. I never thought I’d see the day.
