Working is better than thinking.

Dr. Schreber hasn't slept much in the night, not since Dr. Crane pinpointed out again. He's aware of John coming to the labs all too soon, and there's plenty to do to get ready. There's no taking memes, no checking the Nexus, only chipping away at the looming to-do list. The idea of taking a sample from John's mind terrifies him in a way that doing ( Read more... )

((;_; Poor Schreber. And I don't know if you got my comment or not, but I'm fine with Mel meeting John. *has been waiting all day for this*))

John's first impression of the labs is that he doesn't like them at all. He shoves both hands into his pockets in order to hide the fact that they are clenched very tightly into fists due to nerves. He has a flask of bourbon in his left pocket, as well, but hasn't taken a drink yet. The longer it takes them to walk down the hall to Schreber's office, the more he wants that bourbon.

Schreber isn't necessarily making this any easier, because he's much jumpier than when John talked to him last. He looks tired and wheezes after a few minutes of walking. Orwell on his shoulder is very fidgety, and hasn't played with John's hair yet.
There's also a lingering sense of something weird in the labs, especially in the front entrance, even if neither of them knows about Some's sacrifices. Fortunately Schreber knows his way in the labs very well, and it doesn't take very long to reach his room.

Melinda is a bit twitchy, also. She's heard about John, and she's watched the movie several times. She doesn't know what he'll be like, though- she's thought some people were awesome until she talked to them, or were assholes until they had a conversation.

Her hair is a bit mussed up, and she's chewing on a lip that seems to be chewed on a lot. The girl has her hands in her pockets, and she waits for Schreber. When he enters, Mel blinks for a bit, and then puts on a 'eee Schreber!' happy face.

She's...really young. Okay, so he knew she was young. Schreber told him she was young. But still. Wow. Young.
He himself is tall and brooding, and his pale eyes are just a touch creepy. His evident lack of sleep only adds to this effect. His hair is also mussed, and his trenchcoat is wet around the hem. It was raining in the City.

He clears his throat nervously and nods slightly in greeting. "Evening."
Schreber should formally introduce them. Yeah.
