Rodney's voice came over the comm. Rae smiled and rolled her eyes. How like Rodney to still use last names... Her smile faded after a second. She tapped the comm, replying. "I'm on the balcony on level 23, west side, Rodney. Why?" Her heart raced. Was that why he was sounding quick? Oh gods... "Is Radek alright?" She stood up from where she'd been leaning on the railing, ready to run inside at the slightest word.
Rodney adjusted his direction accordingly as he replied. "No. No, Radek's fine. He's off working right now. Got up before we did, but Carson talked to him a little bit ago. Stay there, I'll be with you in a minute." He tapped off the comm and in another minute was walking through the doors to the balcony.
"Hey." He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her. "How you doing? Okay, yeah, stupid question."
She relaxed as he reassured her. He must just be checking in, then. "Alright, I'll be here." She tapped off her comm and turned around when he came through the door scant moments later

Rodney's still surprised that he has the right to freely hold her like this, and that she'd welcome it, as she obviously does. He kisses her forehead in thanks for the honesty. "You'll probably like Jackson. For a soft science, he's kind of okay. Surprised he doesn't have the gene, though; he's been ascended twice."
He doesn't ask how John helped; it's a bit obvious by the lack of stutter in voice. He's glad John was there for her. "Sorry I didn't really speak to you last night, but I had no clue what was going on and it looked like Carson had you under control while Radek was trying to cough up a lung or something. I did intend to ask after you, but then I had to take Radek out and...yeah
( ... )
She gasps, worrying. "Clones? How is that possible? Did he clone both the body and the... snake? And yes, I don't know where, but I know he has one with him
( ... )
"Yeah. The Trust has the technology, evidently. We don't know how many clones there are, but SG1 has killed quite a few." Rodney looked at Rae questioningly. "Astarte didn't know? Huh."
Rodney nodded; how could he have forgotten about the boxers? "Of course. I think they're the only pair he actually owns."
He listened to her and when she was through, kissed her forehead. "I get the watching and not doing thing. You ever need to talk, I'm here, Rachel.
No, Rodney, now is not the time to get hard. You're comforting her, dammit! "At least she didn't get to it." He unconsciously leaned into her hand, though his eyes widened as he realized what he'd said. Oh, he meant them, but he hadn't intended to say it yet. To hear her return it, though
( ... )
She could tell by his deer in the headlights blinking that he hadn't realized he'd actually said it until she returned the words. Fortunately, that was just amusing
( ... )
A thought comes to her. "Don't... Don't take anything apart just yet, though. We might be able to use it to get Ba'al. In fact... we should get together with John and some of the others to figure that out." Her eyes went cold for a second. "We should get him while we can still surprise him
