Musings of Past Elections...

On election day last week (after finding out that the DMV dicks didn't register me like they were supposed to, thus preventing me from having my say on a certain Proposition banning Gay Marriage) I was driving down the road in my predominantly WCR neighborhood. There were people...actual people...standing at a busy intersection with signs that read, "1 Man + 1 Woman = 1 Marriage."
I was sick to my stomach.
I was disgusted.
I was enraged. I turned to my son and asked, "Do you mind?"
He smiled and said, "Go for it."
Surrounded by pink SUVs and Hummer trucks I started chanting out of my window. I didn't have anything prepared for a protest, but I didn't let that stop me. "Gay Rights! Gay Rights!" I screamed. "You don't have the AUTHORITY to tell people how they should live!" I bellowed. My voice was loud and clear as it echoed the, "People who vote YES are voting just like the KKK!"
In my rearview I saw one of the sign-holders slowly walking towards the front of the line...where I was. He was avoiding eye contact, but he was still walking towards me. He got right next to my window.
I turned to him and said, "Do you REALLY think you have the right to tell people how they should live?"
He smiled a stupid WCR smile and said, "We've been campaigning all week. It's looking really good."
The thing is, he said it like I agreed with him. You know, that insipid Politician smile? It was like I was with a TV crew and this was a potential sound byte. It was like he hadn't just heard me screaming about how backwards and harmful his line of thought is to Humanity.
"What?!" I asked, shocked. "I asked if you thought you had the RIGHT to tell people how they should live..."
"Hope to see you at the polls. Vote yes on Proposi-"
"You're an ignorant Nazi." I said as I sped off through the now-green light, my son howling with laughter beside me.
Honestly, if he hadn't been in the car with me, I would have taken that stupid sign from that idiot and bashed him over the head with it. I don't get that angry over many things, but that utterly enraged me. The small-mindedness and hatefulness and intolerance...I went home and cried. It's really not supposed to be like this, you know.
People like him make me sad for the Future. Hopefully, Darwinism will make them extinct. Especially since that kind won't even KNOW about it because they'll have that banned, too.
Hurry up, three years. Even Hilary is starting to look good.
