Spiders! Spiders!
Yes, today's SHINY will feature spiders. Most of the images are of my tarantulas plus one of the classic Southern Black Widow - which was found in the bathroom (!) off the master bedroom (where I stayed for the Peach State Star Gaze).
But first, something pretty..
Something 'tasty' for the spiders to eat!
And now, the SPIDERS!!!!
The Southern Black Widow
I think its beautiful in an alien way.
My Largest tarantula - "Mort" the Chilean Rose Hair
This was taken a week after her last molt. She grew almost an inch and now is just under 6-inches across.
A Spiderling of the Green Bottle Blue Tarantula
Maybe an inch across - its a feisty little bugger. We call him Inigo Montoya.
"My mother ate my father, and you have captured my mother! Prepare for the Bitey!
My most unpredictable (and dangerous tarantula) - Pele the
Orange Baboon Tarantula or OBT. Most of the time she spends hiding in her coffee cup , but she can move lightening fast and packs a nasty bite.
Beautiful and 'volcanic'...
And the gentle and timid - Hairy Belafonte - the Antilles Pink Toe
This is an arboreal (tree dwelling) species of tarantula from the Caribbean Islands that is well known for their docile nature.
