Deep Thoughts with the Doctor..

A few minutes ago, I was contemplating the weekend's events while sitting on the Great Porcelain Throne of Daily Meditation. After a few deep sonorous rumbles, it hit me - Rorschach will *easily* surpass The Joker as this year's Dragon*Con costume favorite.

Every year the con has an unofficial costume theme. Two years ago, it was All things Sparta, last year - Batman, including lots of cheap/stupid looking Jokers. This year I expect the Watchmen to take the over the Con, with the relatively cheap/easy Rorschach far outdistancing the now passe Joker.

Watchmen

I did manage to watch this movie on Saturday night with roomie pixelmonster and fellow Stooge 'Moe'. Overall, it was a pretty decent flick with lots of ULTRA-violence, large glowing bluish gonads, superhero sex (good and bad), plus deep brooding crap to make most aficionados of the genre happy.

Minor Spoiler Alert

BTW, there really is a 'Smiley Face Crater' on Mars - the same one that Dr. Manhattan was located.

It's something that few would spot - like the good Doctor>

However, I was a bit disturbed by the number of little kids (sub 10 years old) attending a R-Rated movie starting at 10 PM. It wasn't the showing of Dr. Manhattan's pendulous parts that was disturbing for small children though as he was more like an animated glowing statue than 'human'***. But it was the ULTRA-violence (i.e. - limbs broken with bones hanging out, limbs hacked off, an axe-head chomping scene..) which was far over the top for young eyes to see.

Why do parents bring young kids to movies like this?

-*** (He did grow to gigantic size - up to hundreds of feet high, with *everything* staying in proper proportions. It would be interesting to calculate just how LARGE he did become..)

superheros, watchmen
