I've got a few minutes to kill before fireworking so I'm tossing up a Questions Meme. Ask a question about any of mine (Kaistern, Kitchel, Nowaki, Cesare) and I'll answer and respond in kind! Relationships, SotU, canon, whatever! We go back and forth until one of us gets bored or I accidentally set myself on fire, whichever. that was a joke, self, ( Read more... )

On a really basic level, Cesare thinks Rue is very interesting. The most interesting person he's met in Camp, including those people who are from some version of his homeland and people who are really demons or giant talking rats or what have you. He's clearly from somewhere that registers as "exotic" on his radar and is oddly gorgeous. Rue is also obviously intelligent and the little bits he mentions about things from his world fascinate Cesare. Rue is the person Cesare would most like to know more about, if we ignore the fact that he would find it more practical to get information on people he considers to be threats instead.

Going to the second point, Cesare does not for the most part consider Rue a threat. He's not necessarily relaxed around him because, let's face it, Rue is an adult male with strange abilities Cesare does not have and does not understand. But he's less wary around him than he is around almost any one else who falls into the adult male category (Constable Turnbull is such a puppy that he'd win this one). It's not that he doesn't trust him in particular so much as that he hasn't been able to trust anyone outside of a very confined circle for so long that it hasn't even crossed his mind that it would be possible without just walking into a trap. He has levels of trust, however, and Rue is on a different one than most people, in Camp or not.

Cesare wouldn't quite be able to explain this, though, and it annoys him when he stops to think about it. Like I mentioned before, Rue is pinging him like how Leonardo da Vinci pinged him. He doesn't understand him in a different way than he doesn't understand the average person. With most people if he can get enough information he can figure out what makes them tick. Hell, with most people they don't even need to tell him anything. He can work it out quickly enough just by observing and maybe asking a few choice questions. Rue's coming at things from an angle that is just different enough to throw him off and he's working hard at figuring it out. I don't want to say that Cesare wants to be able to manipulate Rue but for lack of a better word, yeah, he does. Again, it's nothing personal. He feels safest when he knows he's in control, even if he's taking what seems to be a gamble. He has more of a handle on Rue now than he did before but it's still very shaky. Cesare would like to at least pretend that it's not but can't. It's very frustrating.

None of this means that he doesn't like rue, though. Like I said, he finds him both fascinating and attractive. He's not... sexually attracted to him? but he finds him very beautiful. Hell, he's sixteen. He's probably sexually attracted to him at least a little. He'll kiss him again, at any rate, and it will only be partially because he knows that Rue likes it and that it surprised him.

I'M NOT ACTUALLY DONE. But I have to go for now. PLACEHOLDER. (and I'm eventually going to ask you to reverse me ♥)
