time for a little heart to heart

Business with the Cabal aside, Magnus wouldn't be a mother if she couldn't spare a few minutes from her day to talk to her daughter. Ever since the rather startling discovery of Ashley being in a relationship with Dr. Macrae, Magnus has been made painfully aware of how much she isn't there. She doesn't even know who her daughter is seeing anymore.

Ashley just finished putting her hair up and securing her fringe back with a plethora of slides when the knock on the door interrupts. She heads to the door.

"Mom, hey," Ashley smiles warmly, "Come on in."

[dr_magnus]

"Hi," she says with a smile, gesturing towards the tray. "Brought you breakfast. Can you believe it? Made it myself." She grins 'proudly' at the french toast, eggs, bacon, fruit, and tea.

"Aww, you shouldn't have," she smiles appreciatively as the tray, "It all looks great, thank you."

She smiles and sets down the tray on her nightstand. "Not interrupting anything, am I?"

"You interrupt anything, Mom," Ashley replies as she sips at the tea.

[dr_magnus]

Magnus smiles and takes a seat on the edge of the bed. "So... how are things with Declan?" she asks casually.

(ooc: Whoops, that was meant to say that she doesn't interrupt anything. Oh well, proved entertaining. *Giggle*)

"Good, good - you know taking it slow and helping him recover from the embarrassment - just so you know we didn't want you to find out that way."

She looks down, smiling faintly. "I wouldn't have wanted to either. But what's done is done," she says with a firm nod. "You're an intelligent young woman. I... don't need to be privy to your affairs, but you know--I'm simply concerned." She smiles and looks at her, touching her hand. "As long as you're happy."

Ashley smiles gently and gives her mother's hand asoft squeeze, "I know you are, Mom and with everything up in the air as it is, it's understandable."

She levels her gaze on her a bit more seriously. "You are happy, right, Ashley?"

Ashley looks into her eyes; "I am . . . Happy-er regarding everything."

[dr_magnus]

She sighs and nods. "Declan is a good man, Ashley. I think he'll take good care of you."

"Thank you," Ashley replies gently.

[dr_magnus]

She smiles and nods, gesturing towards the food. "Eat. You're practically wasting away," she teases of her daughter's petite form, giving her hand a squeeze.

Ashley smiles and takes a bite from the French toast and then dips the edge into the yolk of the egg.

She swallows the food; "Have you - erm - gotten the results yet? From the physicals?"

Magnus smiles and steals a strawberry. She chews and nods. "Ashley, you're fine. Your MRIs are clear, your blood work is clear. Honestly, if I may, it's a bit puzzling that a prodigy of two Abnormals doesn't have one remote marker. You're... quite human, Ashley." She smiles a little curiously. "If not a very skilled and talented one."
