Rachel stood at the large display screen, working on equations in Radek's office while he worked at his desk. "Ne, Milácku, I disagree. If you overload this circuit, the power to the right engine pod will cut out once you hit 436 kilometers per hour. You don't dare overload that circuit, because rerouting it simply won't work. It's a design flaw, in my opinion. Not even the new schematics we found in the construction bay has a way around the problem. I'm telling you, it's a crash waiting to happen, and we can't afford that."
They'd come from Carson's office to Radek's after John found a soldier to stand guard at the office door until Bates arrested Dr. Popov. She'd nodded and smiled, and thanked the man for doing his job, which made him smile for a split second. Really, it may be their job to protect the scientists, but Rachel never forgot the sacrifice made on her behalf and acknowledged anyone she worked with individually. She found it made them much more attentive to duty and much kinder in the long run, to be appreciated for all the danger they put themselves in. Now, she and her husband were going over some of the jumper schematics revealed in the database when the ZedPMs had disclosed the jumper construction and repair facilities. But not even she and Radek could agree on everything all the time...
A little while later, the soldier knocked lightly and stuck his head inside the door. "Doctors? Just wanted to inform you I'll be leaving. Dr. Popov has been apprehended and is in the brig under guard." She smiled, nodding at the man.
"Thank you, Corporal Webster. I appreciate your time." He smiled and gave a little casual salute. He popped his head back in after a second before leaving.
"Oh, and congratulations, ma'am. It'll be good to hear little feet in these halls. Have a good day, Doctor." The soldier left while Rachel stood there, blinking and stunned. She turned worried eyes to Radek.
