IC Information:
Name: Kazutaka Muraki
Fandom: Yami no Matsuei
Timeline: Volume 8 After the Kyoto Lab Fire
Age: 34 I believe. Early Thirties
Appearance: His bio stats have him around 6’3 with coloring not normal for a human being. His skin is pale and soft. Platinum blonde hair is short and slides over his face, hiding his right eye. His left eye is a silver metallic and his right eye is light blue, -- sometimes glowing as it is artificial with a reptile like slit within it. The scar tissue around it stretches making the eye seem abnormally wide in appearance. It’s connected through the optical nerves and allows him to see just as well as the other eye due to magic. He dresses from head to toe in white, very angelic in appearance. Underneath those clothes on his left side is a long nasty looking scar from an apparent knife wound.

Abilities: His only weapons on hand are a long wicked sacrificial blade which he’ll keep on hand or stored away, and his trusted scalpel. He is a surgeon, skilled and talented, known to be one of the best doctors of his time. Dabbling in not only medical procedures but experimental and excelling at technology as well, he mixes science, medicine and the occult into one. He's also immune to most kinds of poisons, as he's been taking them in small doses since childhood. Muraki is a master sorcerer, learned young when he was an adult from an undetermined source. Not only does it enhance his healing properties, keeping him rather youthful for his age, but it is quite effective in battle. While most magic users use elemental properties, Muraki specializes in summoning techniques and curses/hexes.

Which include being able to shroud himself in a white light which teleports him from a current area.

Spirit Bats- These little creatures may look cute and friendly but in the dark they are particularly nasty. He used one of these to drain the life of a small child in order to make her faint so that he could lure in Asato Tsuzuki when he was passing by. Imagine them as life force collectors. (Couldn’t find a good canon picture)

Kochos- Half bug and half bird, and a tiny mix of cat from the feline like bodies, these chimeras are his main specialty. Twice the size of a lion, they crave human flesh and love it the most. Fast and sleek they hunt in packs.

Ooryuu Dragon- These long scaled dragons are extremely fast and have tough scales. They are of high dragon class and yet Muraki has sovereign over them. Muraki can use these for both defensive and offensive purposes. He can summon a rather large one if needed.

Muraki is also an “energy vampire”. The term is used loose because while it is not the official term, he does use two tiny canines to prick the skin, from there sapping life force from the bites at a rapid rate. This is seen with Tsuzuki on the curse ship. While heavily injured or in need of recovery, he can put his body into suspended animation, which makes him seemingly dead to the untrained eye.

His other talents are cursing, raising the dead, sealing and unsealing memories(which I assume would be good for trauma patients, or reawakening repressed memories like in Hisoka), and creating undead.

Even with being a powerful sorcerer, Muraki is still a human. Like any human he is limited by human means. He gets tired after exhaustive spells and will retreat to replenish his magical resources along with his own body. If stabbed, he does bleed out like any normal human. While he can heal a little faster, it isn’t instant like a magical healing spell since he doesn't have one and will take time to recover. Without those summoned beasts he only has hand to hand combat skills to act upon.

Personality: At first he may seem helpful. Muraki is seen helping children when they faint to taking care of a sick daughter of a wealthy family business owner. He portrays a skilled, trustworthy doctor who is more than willing to help and regrets deeply when he is unable to help further with their condition. In truth, Muraki only does these things to gain their trust. Every helpful gesture is only done if it benefits himself in some way. He might’ve been kind once before he was pushed towards that path of darkness. Evidence shows that he got tired of helping patients only to watch them die in the end. He sought out a higher power in order to control life and death. Beautiful, deceptive, kind and sweet, his outward personality is nothing but an angel.

Muraki has a unique obsession with antique dolls. This stems from his past and of his mother who he deeply loved, who owned dolls and treated him like one as well. Eyes that reflected of moonlight pools and skin as pure and soft as alabaster, his mother adored him until Saki, his half-brother, came along and stole her away from him. He views everyone as such -like a doll- as they are able to be broken and fixed once more if given the time, only to be broken again. Even the world and everyone around him is a toy, and he can play with them and use them how he wants, given his manipulative nature.

He uses everyone to his own whim, even those he cares about. He begs for forgiveness when he believes himself to be dying after Tsuzuki stabbed him, from Ukyou, his fiancée. His best friend was constantly helping cover up his crimes. Examples are the murders and the black mail, uses of children for organ donors, or making one faint to lure in certain helpful people in order to trust him. The rape on one night of one Hisoka Kurosaki, and the willingness to curse him because he was “simply too pretty to kill quickly,” was one of his most unmerciful tactics. Asato Tsuzuki is one of his captivated interests, both carnally and scientifically -despite having a fiancée-that he uses and torments. Regardless of his fascination with him, he plans to use him for his purpose of reviving his brother.

A master at his profession, Muraki is a skilled surgeon and talented doctor. His reputation helps him portray that angelic doctor only wanting to help those in need. Unless one is able to assist him in bringing back his brother to life so he can kill him himself, or aid him in some way, he considers them unimportant or not worth his time.

History: Muraki was already born unfortunate into the world. While still in the womb, his father had an affair with another woman, creating another child. Muraki grew up though as an only child in the early years. His mother had a deep fascination with dolls and due to his beautiful looks and “moonlit pool” eyes, she treated him as if he was her doll as well. He was her favorite doll. Coming from three generations of successful doctors, Muraki was trained and expected to become one when he grew up. He spent a lot of time with his grandfather, who aspired great things from him. He’d often spend hours alone studying and learning. Like most noble generations of family lines, he was brought up with the best schooling and private tutors money could buy.

Still quite young, his father brought home Saki, his half-brother and with this new brother, he lost nearly his entire childhood. His mother and father began to favor Saki more, out casting himself from the rest of the family. In a fit of disgust and rage, Muraki killed his parents. It was only then that he knew that Saki had wanted that all along by driving the family apart, noticing his wicked glee during his parents funeral. When Saki turned his sights to murder him and gain the family fortune the guards rushed in and killed him, stealing his only chance to do so himself. His parents murder was blamed entirely on Saki and laid to rest.

Muraki would then move in with his grandfather, where he would learn the rest of the doctor trade. Shortly after his grandfathers death, he was passed down the family notes and histories. A particular patient by the name of Asato Tsuzuki caught his attention. A perfect physical form. His revenge would have to wait until he was older, but it was now possible. He attended the best schools and colleges, graduating at the top of his class. His internship advanced quickly and he rose to the official title of surgeon at an earlier age than most. Years went by as life began to pick at Muraki, eating away at him by showing him humanity’s flawed existence. No matter how many times he saved a life, it would always end with their death eventually. He grew bitter.

He started studying sorcery in his spare time, using whatever means to obtain that vast knowledge. With all the tools in hand, he was able to do the impossible. His villainous ways started small, first with blackmail, then kidnapping, turning to arson and murder. His underground trade with the rich grew, prolonging his lifespan with sacrifices under a blood red moon. The rich would do anything for fresh organs. It was only the supply that was needed. Kidnapping children became rather successful. He was quite disgusted at how easily parents would sell them for money when times were hard. Their organs would be harvested to prolong the feeble lives of the rich and ill.

He started to hate everything and everyone, including himself.

Turning from hospitals that wasted their time with saving those that could not be ultimately saved, he chose to surpass those human flaws, reaching more into his sorcery and technology. His obsession to bring Saki back to life in order to kill him himself drove him on. He lent himself out to the rich, becoming a private physician to noble families. They funded his work equally well.

It was then that he became the private physician for a noble family; The Kurosakis. His father was a mysterious case, but it was not him that ultimately drew his attention, but his son, Hisoka Kurosaki. The unfortunate boy witnessed something he was not suppose to, and Muraki found him far too pretty to kill right away. He sexually assaulted him, placing a curse of illness on the boy and repressed his memories of the murder he had seen and his ability to tell what had happened. Finding no other means to stay and leaving the boy to die, he moved on.

His plan was starting to reach its climax, murders and sacrifices becoming more rapidly normal with each killing. His only missing piece was the person in his grandfather's notes: Asato Tsuzuki. Having met him in person in a church, Muraki had to see him again, even dramatically shedding a tear at finally meeting him. He chose a small girl as his first of many victims, using one of his bats to sap the energy from her to insert himself directly into Tsuzuki's life. Leaving him with a cryptic warning about his partner, ironically Hisoka Kurosaki, Muraki departed. He would see him again shortly when Tsuzuki came looking for one of Muraki's latest victims, Marie Wong. She had grown tired of living, killing herself to escape her demanding mother and Muraki had offered her mother a choice, reviving the young girl in the form of a vampire. Using her to feed on other people, it only drew him more power and Tsuzuki closer. Having kidnapped his partner, he held the boy hostage as bait and as expected, Tsuzuki came for him. Unfortunate he was not successful and both Tsuzuki and Hisoka escaped, leaving Muraki laughing insanely surrounded by fire, leaving Tsuzuki mortally injured and far form unscathed.

Having powerful influences, Muraki was fortunate enough to be the founding doctor to a very wealthy man's daughter. Boarding a cruise ship, he secretly funded and experimented on children, smuggling organs and sacrificing young bodies for the sake of good healthy parts for those that could pay and afford it. Tsuzuki was assigned that case much to Muraki's enjoyment and when he came, Muraki started to murder the guests Tsuzuki had become acquainted with. But, like almost everything he accomplished, Muraki had back up motives, killing those that had witness, discovered or knew of the smuggling and experimental operations when information was leaked on board. Having almost won Tsuzuki in a poker competition, he gave the answers Tsuzuki saught with another cryptic message that he might be the next victim.

Faking his own death through a high degree of poison, he put himself into a long suspended animation, even stopping his heart to a dull crawl so those on the ship would believe he had died. Now suspected murdered, he was free to kill off the rest of the people involved in the ship's operation. Of course, he knew his plan wouldn't last long as Tsuzuk had discovered he was alive and well after a bit of feeding. Confronted after murdering the weathly man's daughter, he fled the ship with a helicopter, leaving behind a bomb that would destroy every single shred of evidence.

Obsession grew with the man, desiring Tsuzuki more each day, both carnally and scientifically. Stalking turned into intimidation, killing those around him in order to lure him into a depressed state of mind, and successfully he was able to kidnap him to his laboratory. The man’s healing skills were impressive and he knew he could use them to bring back his dead brother. Unfortunately before he was able to, the man snapped out of his subconscious state and stabbed him in the side, tearing upwards and left him to bleed to death in the burning laboratory fires.

Roleplay Sample - Log: Blood slipped like ribbons down the corpse’s body, gliding down the gravel fluidly into the river's edge. He didn’t know how, but the man knew who he was, and had to die. He had grown accustomed to this life in this white walled facility and the thought of someone spoiling it was unacceptable, not when he wasn’t finished. The vision of beauty and light cascaded from him, almost like the angel ending this man’s miserable life. A detective of sorts that had tracked him this far, he had gotten too close and too into view to not notice the good doctor had been watching him from afar. Approached foolishly, Muraki had tried to bargain for his silence. Unfortunate for the other, the man was not so willing to agree.

Those eyes had opened horribly and impossibly wide at the feel of the blade in his gut and wrenched in pain at the twist of the knife. It wouldn’t be clean or merciful. So pretty, but he hadn’t the time. Letting a Kocho eat him for supper, he wiped the blood clean from his knife until it shinned once more so beautifully. Like everything else, anything could be purified. It was alright to kill as long as it could be washed away. It was alright to sin, if the sin could be erased.

Saints and even sinners were allowed to atone for their sins and crimes of the past. With each killing he would purify himself with their blood and wash it away to revel a new him, something akin to a god. There were plenty of victims, those that came to him to warm his bed in the night, or those that sought him to prove he still existed. But he hated that existence and would erase it from lips and papers. He would be reborn as a higher existence, one without flaws. At the mere thought of it, as if to remind him of how terribly far behind he was , his scar began to burn, fingers clasping over his left side. He had failed at reclaiming revenge on his brother, with his body now burned away with fire. His pace did not slow as he made his way to his room, staring forward with his new goal in mind.

He would kill whoever got in the way without leaving a single trace. A brief smile etched onto his lips, pale manicured fingers raising to touch at his lips. He walked right through the hallways, right pass people without many stopping to stare, waiting to see who would look his way, or blush shyly at his appearance.

No evidence, no witness, no crime. He’d have to keep it that way.

Roleplay Sample - Journal: [His awakening was abrupt, rustling the man from his dull slumber and the pale fingers of his hand brushed over the new found pain along his side. Moving the blooded shirt aside, he felt down the skin where the knife had dug so deeply, tearing organs, gushing blood and nearly ending his life. Stitches pressed tightly to the skin and he was no longer bleeding. Blood clung to the edges of his skin causing Muraki's inner sensibilities to emerge. It didn't take him long until he noticed the faciliberry recording him.

Everything was white, crisp and plain around him, so he came to his usual conclusion.]

I must say whoever brought me to this hospital was rather generous, but it leaves me with the ill thought that whoever stitched my wounds didn't take with much care. If a doctor would assist me, I'd like to redo them myself. [He patted his clothes and looked for his usual scalpel, anything to cut them open.] The wound will already scar and I'd rather have a refined cut than one of an amateur. [The pale male swallowed, feeling the thickness of the collar around his neck] But, I have that notion that your beside manner is worth concerning over.

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function? Muraki has experienced a rather tramatic life already and while he doesn't always have his grip on reality quite as much as he wants to, he overcomes most situations with a pass glance, acknowledging that he is a monster. Rather demented himself, torture would be the next thing on his list to put himself through, even if he doesn't make that given choice himself.
