Juliet had to drag herself home today, out of the air conditioning of the infirmary and out into the shimmering sun. Roughly seven years on this Island and she had never felt heat quite this... stifling. It had been building for a while, but today it had hit full force. And she didn't expect it to let up when the sun went down, either.
The house was warmer than normal, and she went around shutting blinds and turning off lights and turning on every fan they had. She was currently sprawled on the couch in as little clothing as she could manage during daylight hours - a wee little tank top and tiny shorts - and there was a sweating glass of sweet tea on the ground beside her, ice long since melted.
Goddamn Island.
