The Skylark version of Doc Savage

First, a quick quiz on THE MAN OF BRONZE.

Kind of an oddity, the "Skylark Illustrated Story" of THE MAN OF BRONZE came out in March 1979. This was an effort by Bantam Books at a sort of digest-sized Classics Illustrated to be sold to schools and whatnot. Quite commendable to expose kids to Mark Twain or John Steinbeck. But here is Lester Dent's first Doc Savage novel given the treatment and (sad to say) it's stodgy and dull and hardly worth glancing through. Adapted by Horace J Elias and illustrated by Maurice Whitman, it incorporates the visuals of the 1974 George Pal movie in details like Doc's jacket and the look of the aides.

Unless you're determined to collect every single item possible about Doc (good luck with that project), I wouldn't spend too much effort or cash on this one. But here are a few glimpses.
