Not the best Superman costume
This is from my big box of clippings from magazines and fanzines and books long since lost to history. The caption says, "World's Fair 1939" so I guess this was a personal appearance by the new star of those funny books. The leggings, which only were worn briefly by the Man of Steel were another clue that his costume was derived from professional strongmen.
It's a small peeve and, considering the state the world is in, perhaps not something to have an aneurysm over. But you still hear the snark that super-heroes wear their underwear outside of their pants. No. They wear trunks (although this is almost abandoned in costumes anymore). If you don't know the difference between underwear and trunks, you should check with a family member before going to the beach.
