A pale piece of a pig's ear and his glorious (if unappreciated Teacher)

A decent piece of art from Lee Weeks for Marvel's short-lived 1989 magazine about the Destroyer. Remo and Chiun have been portrayed by various artists over the years, and the results are actually quite uniform. It would be unusual for writers of paperback series to have much say in the cover illustrations (usually they're apalled by the art and often by the titles that publishers slap on their work), so I doubt if Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir had much to do with it. More likely, it's that the descriptions are basic and clear enough that it's hard to misinterpret them too badly. Chiun in particular gives a commercial artist something different than the usual range of recurring characters to paint (with just different guns or backgrounds.) In this instance, I think Weeks has drawn Chiun as rather too substantial and imposing, he should look deceptive fragile and withered. But he has caught the basilisk stare of the Destroyer's deepset eyes.
