Anyone want to tell me why it is that a four year old is absolutely terrified of an otoscope but has no problem sitting still for a blood draw? Anyone?

I explained to him that I was just going to look in his ear. Showed him how it worked. His mother laughed when the whelp got me in the groin.

Was his ear sore? Infection? Or maybe his last experience with an otoscope was when he had an infection and it did hurt?

I'm sorry he kicked you, though. I wouldn't have laughed.

His mother wasn't much better.
