I've always thought I was a good parent. Not the most hip or cool, of course but I never thought I was overbearing in a smothering sort of sense either. I have, or have mostly had, a very good relationship with my oldest child. We've always been very frank with each other and I had thought fairly open as well

I was not aware of the fact that she'd told Alex. And no, she does not have AIDS, I assure you I would not be so calm or collected if that were the case.

My daughter saw fit to get ridiculously drunk with a childhood friend of hers and she is now pregnant with his child. She intends to give the child up for adoption.

I just wish she didn't have to make this decision at all. She is too young, too immature and too ill-prepared for this. She's not much more than a child.

She's my little girl Sam, I do not care how old she is. She's my baby.

And I'm her father, trying to understand insomuch as I can, but I can't pretend that this isn't tearing me up inside.

I held her while she cried herself to sleep last night, I think I'm aware of how she feels.

Seeing as I can't be there, that doesn't even make sense.

I know she's scared and hurting. I'm going to do my best to take care of her.

I'm not as clueless as you seem to think I am, Sam. She's certainly not the first pregnant girl I've ever encountered, nor is she the only one I have known who has been terrified of the prospect of motherhood.
