So awesome....where to begin? Let's take it day-by-day, shall we?
Friday~ I went to Spanish class and watched a movie on how the Spanish Inquisition was "mostly overrated" and how really only like 3,000 people actually were killed, and few people were even tortured and if they were....at least "never more than twice." (Personally, I wouldn't like to be tortured at all plzokthx) Then, since I had some time inbetween Spanish and Japanese Recitation, I went to go see Julie and her Irish Dance Team dance on the diag. This was pretty hilarious just because of the amount of drunk people flooding the area. One guy jumped up on one of the benches trying to mimic the dancers and fell off of it right on his ass. I laughed. But Julie was awesome as usual and it was cold, so I went to Japanese rec and had kind of a hum-drum class. I don't know why, but Kozuka-sensei can't seem to get us as pumped up as Terao-sensei can. Although the fact that it was a Friday and ALSO St. Patrick's Day couldn't have helped. Shikattanai wa ne?
Afterwards I randomly decided to get my hair cut, so I went to the place Brandon usually goes to, just to see if they'd let me do a walk-in. Turns out that's pretty much all they do, so I got my hair tidied up and only felt slightly lame that even my 40-yr-old hairdresser planned on going out and getting trashed that night. I didn't want to be drunk, but it wouldn't have hurt to have plans on SOME kind. What actually ended up happening was I went to dinner at the Union with Brandon and Alison (while I love my Irish heritage, I can't STAND corned beef and cabbage!) and then Brandon and I went on a HUGE long walk all over Ann Arbor....at night....with a buncha drunks around. Okay, so it wasn't the smartest decision ever, but we didn't get mugged and had a fairly good bitching session about the reasons we're both still single, worries for the future, social problems, etc. Then we sat in the Law Quad and got our asses frozen....which was kinda funny.
Saturday~ Started out on a grumpy note, as Alyson called my cell at a little before 9 in the morning to get my dorm number so she could call me when she and her parents got to Ann Arbor. 9 doesn't SEEM early...but when you've stayed out all night having a depress-fest, and then one of your friends calls and wake up both you AND your roomate, it doesn't put ya in a good mood. I shouldn't have been so short with her, but um....yeah like I said, I was grumpy. Sorry Al'son-imouto! I did end up going to lunch with Al and Mr. and Mrs. Yeates....which was really fun. They really are like my other family. So my mood was MUCH better as soon as Al got here, since I was uber-happy to see her!!! ^_^ We dropped stuff off at my dorm and then headed straight to Wizzywig for Cosplay Day!
Cosplay Day is something I've never experienced before, but it was pretty fun overall....if you ignore the wench who had her panel after Darcy and was like the Cosplay Nazi. Seriously....no one there was really a SERIOUS cosplayer except for Darcy herself, and this broad comes in acting like she's the shiznit because she has made three costumes. WTF?!? She kept doing things like making backhanded compliments to the contestants...MOST OF WHICH WERE UNDER 15!!!! Christ... Get a life, lady. A hobby is supposed to be FUN!
Anyway, before the competition we ran over to Borders to get Al into her Wedding Peach costume, and we get into the bathroom, and we're in there about 10 minutes when suddenly we hear: "SOME PEOPLE need to use the BATHROOM out here!!!" I was like, jeez, sorry lady, we were here first....but then we went out there and there was a lady in a wheelchair that needed to use the handicapped stall (which we were in) >.0; How were we supposed to know??? I apologized to the lady in the wheelchair, and she was actually very nice about it (she wasn't the one who'd screamed at us through the door) but the woman with her was a total bitch. At this point Al had her costume mostly on (complete with pink hair) she she OBVIOUSLY thought we were freaks. Fuck her. Then she comes outside again (where I was still helping Al assemble herself) and starts badmouthing us to her husband, WHILE WE'RE STANDING THERE!!! What the hell? I gave her a death glare (which she didn't miss) and left it at that. Then Al proceeded to win 3rd place in the contest, earning her 4 free anime DVDs!!! Go Al! You rock!
Now by this point, I was worried about the time I had left, because I was supposed to meet my Japanese classmates for a reunion dinner at 6....and it was five o'clock. But....Al's stuff was still in my room, so I walked back, got changed, got it and hiked all the way back to the Wig with 20 extra lbs and high heels.... -.- Oh well. I managed to take like 5 seconds to hug Al seven more times and then took off for Totoro...thinking I'd be late n' stuff.... Kids, at this point, let me tell you there is a LOT to be said for showing up fashionably late to a get-together. I was the first one there and waited for about 20 minutes before ANYONE I knew came through the door. I think the waitress thought I was pathetic because honestly....who gets stood up by like...14 people AT ONCE??? No one. At least, not me. Because they all came in at once about 5-10 minutes later. Only Nobukawa-sensei wasn't with them. He was supposed to be the freakin' guest of honor, but he was about an hour late because he took a nap and set his alarm for 4:15 AM instead of PM. Oops. It's okay Nobukawa-sensei, you're worth the wait! ^_~ After he got there, it was kinda awkwardly silent for a little bit, because let's face it, it's weird to have dinner with a teacher at first. But after that things went so well. Suzy and Christine were the only other girls there, but it was great to have them, since they're both AWESOME people. Then Muk, and Ernest were also there from last semester, and three new guys (well, people I didn't know) John, Kevin and Jim. They were all awesome, but I took a special shine to Jim, since he let me try all his sushi n' stuff. His mom is Japanese, so he knows his shit. As an apology for being late, Nobu ordered the Chef's Special platter of sushi....and the MINIMUM cost was $50. And I'm sure he ordered extra. Naturally we were al like "Holy crap, you're not paying for that yourself, yadda, yadda, yadda." and we all chipped in. But it was cool. I ate NOT ONLY sushi, but SASHIMI as well! And I didn't get sick! And I LOVED the stuff!!! What have I been missing all my life? Haha!
So after we ate enough to feed a small village in Hokkaido (no joke, I'm totally serious), we divvied up the check and headed outside the restaurant, where more funny things ensued. Nobukawa-sensei wanted to go out drinking, only just he and Muk were of age. It was so funny 'cause he looked directly at me and says "YOU'RE not 21??" And I'm like...."no....." but I was thinking....do I look older?? Haha. It was one of the only times in my life where I've wished I could drink. Not because I wanted to get drunk, but because it would've prolonged a nice evening, and honestly....how funny would it be to get drunk with a senior guy and one of your GSIs? Funny. I assure you. Anyway, we decided to break off the evening for real, but all the boys I had just met shook my hand and said they'd love to do it again sometime...and Nobu randomly says "You should come to Japanese lunch table! I go to them now and I'd like to see you there!" And I was kinda like, huh....okay, why not. And it kinda made me feel good about myself. Chotto dake, ne? ^_^; Then I walked back home and called Brandon on the way there...since it was dark and I don't like to walk around alone at night. Then hung out with Bran and Alison a little and we decided to go get mochi ice cream. (Even though I wanted to puke, I was so full) But the stuff's really good! It's ice cream you can eat with your fingers, and I like that! Then sleep.
Today~ Team Mauve took second place in the EQ Scavenger Hunt!!!!! We won gift certificates to Red Hot Lovers....and had a blast and took lots of hilarious pictures. (We = Me, Elizabeth and Steve, btw.) Then I spent the rest of the day doing nothing I should be doing....and then I wrote this. And now it's 11:26. Sonnuva.... Oh well. I've been WAY overdue for a decent update. So here you go. Enjoy.
