Post for a semester, skip one, post one...
So much for regular updates, I guess. Then again, not much happened last semester worth mentioning.
The holiday break was nice, if not as busy as I would have liked. I got to see almost everyone I planned to visit, and a few people that I wasn't even aware were living in Houston. I just wish it had been colder; I miss having distinctive seasons.
Classes have started, and hopefully it will be a good semester. Land Degradation and Environmental Economics seem straightforward enough and look to be interesting in parts. The Field Ecology course looks to be tough, filled with such daunting things as statistics, probability, calculus, and Microsoft Access, all of which have caused me grief in the past. But there are no tests, and all the math and so forth will actually serve to design and perform experiments for the field trip on the Big Island. Also of note, I don't have classes on Fridays (unless eco gets moved). This will either boost my productivity or destroy it, and I'm not sure which one yet.
