Within Temptation
Went to see Within Temptation play at Birmingham Carling Academy on Wed Nov 28th. Was a very good gig. Missed the support unfortunately due to getting lost in Birmingham, coupled with starting out later than planned. Two criticism's that have nothing to do with the band
1) Couldn't see the stage because of the number of tall men who were in the front row of the balcony - but at least there was a tv next to where we stood that we could watch it on.
2) BO. Why can't people smell themselves when they stink? Is it too much to ask to dry clean leather jackets every now and then and to wear a proper anti-perspirant rather than a bog standard deodorant. The smell there totally ruined the night for me as every time I got into a song, I got a whiff which set of a tirade in my head!
But that aside the band themselves were fantastic. They played loads of the songs I love from the new album, and can I just take a moment to say how much I love the new album. Way more so than the previous (silent force), and totally different to mother earth (which I also love). Also more so than the early growly stuff. They also played a good mix from silent force, mother earth and even a track from the early stuff! The band had great physical presence, and I loved the stage set and the images on the backdrop. Wasn't sure about the pink skirt, but as it lasted less than a track who was I to complain :)
