In Her Hospital Room
(After this and the many threads that go with it)
Bonnie was doing her best not to move. The painkillers had helped a lot, but her shoulder was still quietly throbbing and anytime she moved, it sang out in sharp protest. Even breathing hurt.
The doctor had said that the bullet had fractured her shoulder blade. He had also said she was going to need surgery in the next day or two. Something about putting in pins and a small plate, but she was fuzzy on the details.
She was fuzzy on a lot of things.
She remembered sitting down to dinner with Michael and Kitt, and how much tension there had been. But after that there was nothing but a big void in her mind. The doctor had said it was normal to have memory gaps right around a traumatic injury, but it was still very unnerving.
She had asked the doctor if she could see Michael and Kitt. He had sent someone to find them, but so far no one had been back to tell her if they were even here. She really wished right now that she was back in LA. Really it shouldn't matter, most of the people she cared about were here in New York anyway, but she just wanted to be home. Either at her apartment or the estate - she didn't care which, she was just homesick. But home was a plane ride away and that wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
She sighed and thought maybe it was best that Michael and Kitt weren’t here. She was exhausted and uncomfortable and she hated the fact that there was an IV in her arm. It was upsetting her anytime she looked at it. She was starting to see why Michael hated hospitals so much.
Michael.
He was finally back, and as usual, she'd been horrible to him. She hadn't meant to be -- it had just been such a shock, seeing him. And then there was the whole issue of Kitt. She had been waiting for Kitt to explain, but he hadn't said anything for a really long time. It had been so awkward that she hadn't known what to say.
But she hadn't even welcomed him back.
Bonnie closed her eyes. Maybe it would be best if she just tried to get some sleep.
