She’d wanted to make Kitt’s scanner blue. But, as always on the little inconsequential things, Bonnie had been over-ridden. Stephen and Gates had ruled the roost around the lab in those days and for a while, she got the feeling they disagreed with her just to get her riled up. She had learned to pick her battles and getting her way on the color was pretty low on the priority list.
But thinking back on it, she was glad that she hadn’t gotten her way. At the time she had thought that blue would fit his personality better - calm, cool, level-headed, logical. Red was the color of passion and temper, of hastiness and deep emotion. She felt the scanner color contrasted when it should have complimented. But it turns out that contrast had been the right way to go. The most unexpected thing about Kitt in her mind was the depth of the emotions he had developed - his ability to experience such a wide range of human feelings.
And Bonnie couldn’t think of a better clue that there was more to this car than met the eye than the striking set of red lights tracking back and forth across his prow.
