Today I attempted to do the Major Taylor Century. I was about 20 miles out [out of 100, if you don't know what a century is], and couldn't breathe. Everyone on the ride passed me and I had to turn in. It was the single most discouraging, depressing, and degrading moments of my life. I seriously could not breathe.
This really hurts a lot. I love cycling more than anything else, ever. It is the single activity that makes me happy, and I'm good at it. Now I'm at WPI, I'm going to be racing with a group of good riders this Spring, and I can't do it. I can't breathe.
I'm going to the doctor's office on Wednesday and then seeing a specialist. This is ridiculous that I've been having this problem since June. I've been on countless different medicines, had chest x-rays, been to the hospital, seen three doctors, and I have yet to get a straight answer.
I'm going to find Theo and tell him that I dropped out.
