what else can go wrong??? don't answer that...

Ok, so, having had a cold, which turned into a cough, which turned into a chest infection, which resulted in a week's ban from running, I then had the busiest week in the world, and didn't mangae to run (gymed tho'!) then went back to running, was just starting to feel fitter, and more like a human again, and then the slight ache in my heel became a real problem, physio says plantir facitis (prob. spelt wrong, don't give a monkey's!) and 3 weeks off. Meanwhile, lose half a stone, and sort out your orthotics (also some exercises, but the stretches not likely to help, cos of hypermobility). So, in the world of sub-plot, crash car, break heart of nice person who didn't deserve it, stoke a flame that should have been extinguished years ago, and have snow related insanity all over the place. Podiatrist appt made, then cancelled till 4th of Jan - snow - and the general feeling of shitey lethargy that lack of running induces seems to have set in again. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Am not having this. Will use gym/bike to keep endorphins and fitness levels up, will try to run... will keep busy.

An often surprisingly wise person said something which made me think last week - I have often tended to see distraction as cowardice, a refusal to face up to the ?pain? lurking ?within?, and I tend to be derisive of my ability to fill my time so as to avoid sinking. Anyway, the suggestion made was that distraction can be good, and that the healing process can continue whilst the distraction is occuring - like a cast on a break, it protects the injury and allows life to carry on whilst mending occurs.

I like this thought. Maybe I don't have to pay for every distraction with repressed pain bursting out all over the place ... maybe each time I do lose the plot it is a little less severe than before because of the healing that has gone on...

Thank you, anyway. (you know who you are!)
