What a weekend it was with non stop fun and living on a “college” schedule again. Margaret got married this weekend, and I was in her wedding party. It was my first time as a Bridesmaid and I was also very excited to see my friends again. Part of me also wanted to walk around campus as well. It had been three years since the gang was together and hanging out in Caryn’s room. Oh the good times.
Matt picked me up at BWI, having taken the train there. He was the first person I saw as I stepped off. I found the facilities to use before we went off to find Caryn. Yay for cell phones…we found her. :-) Off we went then to a mall in Towson, after sitting there with the rest of the world not moving and inch. It was nice to get up and walk around and I got some much needed socks. The drive continued after our hour of walking around and such and before I knew it, “Hello State College.”
Familiar hang out started to crop up, or places I’d been with people that weren’t in my life anymore. Yet here I was to make more memories. Once checked in and somewhat settled, we got ready for the rehearsal and dinner at the country club. The weather wasn’t the greatest and it did look like rain. Matt, Caryn and I goofed off a bit during it all..hehe Caryn got some pictures, sky included. As for the dinner it was just awkward, especially at the end. The lull wasn’t too fun there. But I managed to enjoy myself somewhat. Afterwards we drove around to the mall again and then went over to Margaret’s “apt” and hung out a bit. She’s got a nice place.
Saturday was filled with all kinds of running around as we went in search of bachelorette stuff. The gifts we came up with were great and the one really naughty one was great. LOL…her face on that one…”where’s a camera?” We all went bowling that night after all the gifts were handed out. I hadn’t bowled in so long and enjoyed myself despite my headache. (PMS stinks) Matt’s bf fit in so well with everyone and followed me up the lane at one point. In an attempt to show me how to bowl the ball guttered.
Sunday was the big day and it didn’t leave much time for goofing off or running around. After brunch, things were gathered at the hotel and Caryn and I were dropped off at the country club to get our hair done. Sarah was fun to be around and she did such a nice job on my hair. Half of it was pinned up, and all was curled. I looked the part of a princess.
When it came time for the ceremony to start I was ready to go and remembered what I was supposed to do. Once the parents and grandparents were seated it was my turn to start the walking. The ceremony was short and sweet; if you’d blinked you’d have missed it. We all blew in the wind and the pastor did make comments about the wind. Thankfully the weather held together as it had been raining earlier in the day and broken to sunshine. Blew in the wind for the pictures too.
I had fun at the Reception, had a bit of wine, danced some too. All of my partners were gay men and one I was swinging dancing with. Caught the bouquet the bride threw...and Matt caught the garter. Margaret turned to me at some point after the catching and says to me “You’re next” and I’m thinking “Ya if Caryn doesn’t beat me first.” Someday Mr. Right will come around and sweep me off my feet.
It was great to walk around State College some on Monday, get PSU stuff, pictures by the lion and see North Halls. Things have changed but we are all still close at heart. :-)
