Yeah, saw Wolfman's post - it was an odd crowd - not a DPT crowd - people there for the bands who were the finalists in the competition, some DPTers, but few people knew words to songs of WtA, let alone anything else. And there were some very drunken wankers there. But Carl was on amazing form and the band are being so brave and confident with their new material, it's a joy to see. Yeah, a brand new one. And first up. Like seeing them in Paris when they kicked off with Truth Begins - just amazing. Was hard to get a full impression of B and C, though it sounded good - and Best Face was completely reworked - barely recognisable. Unlike the reworked version of Tired of England that they played at Proud and again tonight, and which I love, the consensus is rather more uncertain about the new version of Best Face - which is quite different from the one we've come to know. x
ah well you gotta figure there were so many people there who aren't fans really and the only way they'd go see them was if it was free. not really the kind of people you'd want in the crowd. interesting to hear about best face in the place. that was one we couldn't make out most of the lyrics to. something like 'she had the lipgloss and the grace'. so exciting about b & c too!
Well, not sure about lyric changes, cause that seems to be happening all the time at the moment with the new songs, seems odd since one woulda thought that they'd finalised them in recording, but, hey. The Best Face changes were structural and musical and maybe lyrics too, but felt like a completely different song, only recognised it in snatches. x
'Most of the new songs are very familiar already and went down well, though I thought the first song they did was pretty terrible. Not sure of the title and I hadn’t heard it before.'
and linna loved it
'The first song was Buzzards and Crows which I think is stunning; it is very heavy and dark and I think I am going to adore it.' and is gonna upload a video tonight. yay.
Personally, I liked Buzzards and Crows, it's got some of the mood of Truth Begins, but will have to wait until I hear it again to decide. But, like Linna, I reckon positive, generally on that one.
friend of mine went to see them. it's been her first time seeing them live and she only knows the new album (minus burma. grr.) and said the first few slow ones came as a bit of a shock but then the boys seemed to really get into it and she really enjoyed it. awww :D i guess it is weird, if you only know WTA seeing them do B&C and TIWTTB (dude, wtf?) cause they're so different but i do love that they're, as you say, so bold about their setlist
i read that the crowd was really shit.
