365-Day Project

Back in April, I decided to start one of those 365-Day projects, where one takes an idea and implements it each day for an entire year.

Decided on photography.

So far I'm about 60 days into the project.

Some of the days are taking shots of something that happened that day, some of them are just things that stuck out in my mind.

After about a month, you start to notice a pattern in your own shots. As one co-worker put it: "you like to shoot things up close". Well, yes... on the one hand, I'm short...I'm used to being up close to something in the first place. On the other hand, photographing plants was where I got the photo-bug, so that seems to be where the mental tendency goes.

With that in mind, have been playing around lately - angles, shadows, cropping parts of the image on purpose, zooming in so far that it's hard to tell what the object actually is (so focusing on the texture/etc), lighting, and lately it's been playing with the colors/temperatures of the shot.

About two months in to a year-long project like this, one definitely begins coming up with ideas to keep it fresh...or at least something to keep focused.
Right now what comes to mind is themes - taking an idea and implementing it for a week at a time. Not sure how that's going to play out, but it's just an idea for now.
