And suddenly, all the love songs were about you...

a/n:  for the FFF prompt "Love me if you Dare."  I don't know when this takes place...LuRe are working together on the wing, spending more time in each other's company.  They've definitely moved into some flirty territory with each other.  Maybe the elevator happened, as well as the "what am I missing" thing with Noah in the hallway.  There's no Dallas.  Noah's still blind in more ways than one and his surgery is imminent.

Luke doesn't know when it happened.  He doesn't know when the switch flipped.  He watches him from across the restaurant, eating with........enthusiasm.

Luke had hated him, or at the very least he had disliked him greatly, the arrogant doctor, and he's not really sure when that disdain turned into fascination.  Dare he say into like?  Into lust.  Into some kind of crazy want.  When did he start noticing his jaw line?  Or the yellow flecks in is blue, blue eyes?  His tight frame?  His long, slender fingers...

Luke knows it's wrong, yet every stupid love song is suddenly about him.  Every sexy lyric on the radio swiftly, surprisingly brings images of him to Luke's mind.  Images he shouldn't entertain.  Images that he should find appalling......................but doesn't.

Just then, as if he feels Luke thinking about him, the doctor raises his head and instantly makes eye contact with him.  Luke should look away.  He can't.  Instead he smiles, and Reid nods his chin to him in acknowledgement before a small smile lights his eyes as well.  Luke likes that smile.  A lot.  He's been seeing it more and more lately, and it does crazy things to his stomach.

"Luke?"

Luke tears his eyes away from the object of his constant thoughts as of late and looks at his ex, who is squinting past his left shoulder.  "Hmm?"

"What are you doing?"

Luke looks down at the plate of food he hasn't touched.  "Eating," he replies, picking up his fork.

"You're quiet."

"Am I?"

"And you're acting weird."

Luke sighs.  "Am I quiet, or am I weird?  Which one is it, Noah?"

Noah puts down his fork and knife.  "Ya know what?  This was a mistake.  I knew I should have asked someone else for a ride to my appointment...and lunch?  We just shouldn't be doing this.  We're not a couple anymore, and I don't think we should be spending..."  Luke tunes out Noah's rant and watches Reid pay the waitress and then walk out the door.  "...Luke?....Hello?  Are you even listening to me?"

Luke shakes his head.  "Hey..." he says, cutting Noah off, "Noah.....um.....excuse me for a minute."

Luke stands up and walks to the exit quickly, Noah calling after him.  "Wait.  Where are you going?  LUKE!"

Luke throws open the door and turns to the right.  "Dr. Oliver!"

Reid turns and walks toward Luke.   When they meet on the sidewalk, Reid steps into Luke's personal space, which is something he's been doing the past couple of weeks, seemingly on purpose, to counter Luke's inability to respect his own personal boundaries.  He's been vocal about it.  Luke knows he does it to unnerve him.  And it does.  But it also makes him feel strangely powerful.  Luke sort of lives for the dance they've been doing lately...a facade of annoyance with an undercurrent of.........something incredibly.............................interesting.  "Yes, Mr. Snyder?"  He lifts his eyebrows.  It's probably just in Luke's mind, but it feels like a dare to him.  A dare he wants to take.

Luke chuckles, falters for a second, but then regains his footing.  "There's something I want to tell you."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah."  Luke bites his bottom lip.

"Out with it then."

Luke looks over his shoulder and off to his left side before turning back to Reid, putting his hand on the back of his neck, and pulling him into a kiss.

Reid gasps ever so slightly, but then his mouth is opening, and their tongues slide together, and they are kissing like they fucking mean it on a busy sidewalk in broad daylight with Noah not 20 yards away.

Luke pulls back, laughs, and puts a hand over his mouth.

"I wasn't expecting that," Reid says, smiling and licking his bottom lip, his hand on Luke's waist.

Luke laughs again.  "I'm sorry!"  His brown eyes sparkle.

Reid leans close to Luke's ear.  "Mr. Snyder," he says, his breath warm against Luke's jaw.  "You should never apologize after you kiss someone."  He leans back slightly and thumbs Luke's chin.

Luke steps back and nods.  "You're right.  I'm not sorry."  He leans forward and pecks Reid's lips with another quick kiss,  "I've wanted to kiss you for a long time, Reid."

Reid smiles, and Luke turns and heads back to the restaurant, looking back over his shoulder and laughing again.
