2009 was the year I finally got my finances straightened out. You might think it was because of the recession, but it wasn't. Today I saw an event on Facebook called 'Buy Nothing Day'. Curious, I visited the event page and discovered a community of people organizing a boycott of Black Friday in an attempt for people 'to opt out of consumer culture completely'.
