Dad's going in to have his heart checked on Friday. It's a good thing, really. My uncle only just passed away from a sudden heart failure, and their older brother died a few years back from "mysterious" (for lack of a better word) causes that may or may not have been along those same lines. If it's a family thing, something hereditary, it's high time my dad got tested. He works himself far too hard as it is, and he's been in so much pain ever since the Honolulu marathon and none of it makes much sense at all, he being such an avid runner and always keeping in the best of shape. Hopefully all is fine and dandy, but if it's not we can at least (thank goodness) nip it before it peaks. My uncle wasn't so lucky, and we're still shaking from the blow. We can't lose dad the same way, and he knows it.

He's really struggling to deal with my uncle's death. But I suppose that if, in getting tested, he can prevent something similar happening to him, something decent can come out of that senseless loss.

Those of you who would, please pray for him and for our little family. If you're not of the praying sort, I'd appreciate it if you still kept us in your thoughts. We won't know anything until then, obviously, but if the doctors do find anything, they're going to go in and operate then and there.

Thanks, folks :)

dad, prayer request
