It seems like I always have bad news... I heard about the following only vaguely from students around campus and found out the identity of the victim on my one. This was taken from a news brief on the Burlington-Times website:

An Elon University student was killed when he was hit by a train Wednesday evening in what may have been a suicide, police said.
James Michael “Mike” Elzar Foreman, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck just after 5:45 p.m. said Assistant Elon Police Chief Capt. Sam Russell.
Foreman, of Raleigh, was a sophomore studying communications.

This boy's family is going to need a lot of prayer right now. Horrible either way, I hope for the family's sake that it wasn't a suicide. The students have yet to be informed, to the best of my knowledge; at least not publicly. I'm sure there will be a Smith Jackson e-mail before long, but until then.
