i know todd is going to make fun of me for this, but here goes:  looking for jobs/interviewing for jobs/deciding which job offer to accept IS HARD!  i know, i know, i shouldn't complain...it hasn't been that long a process...at least i've gotten more than one offer...and it's not that i need to choose between a lesser of two evils or anything ( Read more... )

I actually completely agree with you that deciding on a job is hard. It can have a huge effect on you, from where you live to (possibly) what you'll be working on for a long, long time. The types of people that you'll meet and be associating with, how stressed out or happy in life you might be, or any of a million aspects of life, that you're trying to envision based on a short set of interviews and maybe a couple days of meeting people. It's a wonderful problem to have, because you're deciding which opportunities to close off, and at least personally, I much prefer to keep opportunities open. But maybe I'm being too serious here...

hi there! how's california treating you so far? yeah, the job thing is/was hard, but it had to be done. i think i was in the enviable position of having to choose between two really superb choices, so it was really a win-win situation. and in the end, these sorts of decisions, while important, are not irreversible. so even if by some unfortunate circumstance, things didn't go well, they could always ALWAYS be fixed. of course, being the person that i am, i stressed out over it and probably managed to gain a few white hairs in the process. ah, but that's what they make hair dye for. :)

anyway, seriously, how are you? are things good? job-wise and so on? keep us posted!

california's pretty good. i'm really enjoying work, and i'm learning a lot so far. the weather's been pretty consistently nice, and i have not yet experienced an earthquake. i'm splitting an apartment with one other guy, which is a nice change from a dorm. i'm hoping to get things settled down so i can get out and about more and meet more non-work people. i'm keeping my eyes out for a theatre group that performs drama but does not necessarily create lots of it.

do you mind if i ask what you'll be doing now that you've accepted an offer? while i agree that you can change jobs, it's still a bit of a pain to have to do so quickly.
