K got a job offer from Germany. Now they are in negotiations and we should get the next ball this week. Suppose they agree to his proposal? Should we go to Germany again?

The exchange rate is terrible and we would be paid in USD, living on the economy with a US sized paycheck. We would take an overall pay cut, since I wouldn't be able to work full time for my current employer (part time is possible). We would have to live in a cheaper place and be more careful with costs (doable).

But all we have to do is make our expenses plus retirement contributions. Plus the first 90K (USD) or so of income earned overseas isn't taxable.

And living in Europe again would be sehr kuhl. I never did get to see the cathedrals in Amiens and Milan....

We came back to be closer to our Ds, and for me to get re-plugged in to the professional network. If we went back to Europe, we'd be far far away again from the Ds and this time they're not in school with lengthy summer vacations. Now they're working so they would have only have 2 weeks of vacation.

I did get reconnected with my profession and could probably back away again for a while. I don't know if I could come back to my same position, but is that a bad thing? yes/no.

All the moving hassles. Packing, shipping. Storage and sale of goods not shipped. Cars. Renting our house again. Leaving our friends behind again.

Well, maybe they won't accept K's proposal.
