Today I was the only person in our senior management team meeting that had not attended the regional meetings. Today's meeting was spent in assigning topics to various people to report to the masses on the sparkling gems of wisdom that were (theoretically) distributed at the regional gathering. No, I said, several times, I wasn't there. *seethes inside*
Later, I was able to forward good news about a client requesting additional services. Given last week's brouhaha with senior management involvement on my picayune little project, I'm fully expecting to be elbowed out the door by the same senior technical staff who will be pressing to serve this (my) client for this new thing.
Finally, the star moment of the day was when the geographic region's discipline lead came into my office to explain why someone else got a big promotion. And that another someone else is being considered for another senior technical position. And assorted other little tidbits that were probably passed on to show that I am in the loop, but could not have been designed any better to show that while others are moving upwards and onwards, I am not.
This is all very depressing. Still, I cheer myself at the thought of my lovely paycheck, which came today. I do make a lot of money, it's true. Would I trade some of it for more recognition?
hmm..... something to think about over the weekend, when we are going out to lunch and to the garden show.
And here's the thing about bacon and eggs: the chicken's involved, but the pig's committed.
