Edward watched. He had to say that was probably the best thing he had acquired since becoming a Vampire. He could sit for hours, days even, and watch, process, take in, enjoy the stillness, the movement, the world he was both in and not part of.
Over the years many things had caught his attention, but they never held hem more than a few moments, or even a few years. Moment and years meant nothing when you had forever. But as he stood in the dark, looking across the room, seeing how the soft glow of the moon cast shadows and the soft, rhythmic breathing lulling him into a trance, he realized his attention could no longer be distracted. He had found the one thing he wanted to look at forever. If only forever was part of the deal.
Edward smirked. There slept the perfect victim and someone who had taken more than a passing interest in him and his family. There were no boundaries he had to knock down just to listen to her speak, there wasn't much need for restraint of keeping his distance from her scent. He could take her. He could have her. He could loose her forever to what he was and than never have to worry about her leaving, deciding it was a passing thing and she would divert her attention to other things.
Gliding over to the bed, no longer needing to be 'human' in his actions, Edward pulled the curtain and window back. Giving one last glance behind him, over his shoulder, sniffing the air, mouth watering for her, he smiled.
"Good night, Bella," he whispered, climbing out of the window, latching it, and gracefully gliding down to the ground, where, as soon as his foot hit the soft dirt, he took off running, keeping an ear on how she peacefully slept on.
