Summary: For some, just going to the store is scary.
Timeline: No timeline.
His steps slowed as he came to the end of the aisle. He had done well, he said to himself. Of course he hadn’t had to talk to anyone on this aisle. Since coming in the store he had talked to three people: the greeter - George from his name tag; Lara - the deli clerk who always picked up his papers and put them on his porch (they were great neighbors); and a man named Derek.
“George up front. Lara in deli. Derek two aisles to the left,” he muttered to himself. “Doing good. Doing good. Even Lara said so.”
He bit his lip and gripped the basket before him. It was slippery from his sweat and he closed his eyes briefly.
To anyone watching it looked like a man who was trying to recall a grocery list. But to Harry it was his way of trying to hear anyone on the next aisle before he crossed over.
Everyone else seemed to have no problems walking around the store coming and going as they shopped. But to Harry even the simple trip to get milk, bread, cheese and celery was frightening.
