WE WERE SO EPIC

Nov 15, 2010 02:26

So last week I went with annya_chan to Chile to the VAMPS live in Santiago.

It was an adventure from the very moment we set foot on the bus station on Thursday night. We even have a soundtrack for our trip: five minutes before we took the bus to Mendoza, some radio started playing Don't Stop Me Now and we couldn't keep from singing it, rather loudly, while gathering our luggage.

We woke up in Mendoza, at around 7am, went for a walk, and at 9 we took the bus to Chile. There we met two girls who were also going to the concert. As you can imagine, nobody slept a wink with four fangirls on the way to see the man of our dreams... while crossing a beautiful mountain. We took pictures, played stupid games and managed to eat everything we had before getting to Customs.

We arrived in Santiago at around 5.30pm, and immediately recognised yume_wo_egaku, who was waiting for us in the sweltering heat. Her family is the best, people. We felt at home right away, and Mali is such a sweetie you wouldn't believe. She took us for a mini tour and we checked out the Eurocentro, a paradise for otaku and general freaks, where I bought the most amazing pair of wing-shaped earrings for me and things for mum.

Then the next morning we left for the venue, Teatro Caupolican, and arrived there at the lovely hour of 8.00am... and found a crowd already standing at the gates. We then proceeded to wait, making friends, chatting and fangirling, and having mate, which is an instantaneous neon-arrow that says "here there be Argies".

Cameras weren't allowed at the concert because they were going to record it for the tour's DVD, so no pics from the inside of the place from me, although you can find some recordings of bits of the show on youtube. Which was, of course, absolutely fucking amazing. That man, people. If possible, I love him even more, I worship him with all my being.

After the show things get a bit blurry for me, as everything went slightly downhill: Anita lost her visa, we got stuck in the city without change, and several other dark spots, but we came out unharmed in the end.

I almost can't believe that a week ago we were trying to get on the bus to return to Argentina, only to find that the Andes road had been closed due to heavy snowing... and then we got kicked out of the bus station and had to wander for a bit, until we found other souls in similar distress and managed to get into another station to spend the night, chatting away.

We had all kinds of fun in those five days, but there are moments I don't think I'll ever forget, engraved on my memory so deeply that when I close my eyes I see them in sharp colours: the moment Hyde approached the mic and started singing, the way light made him seem angelic, his smiles, the way he sounds (oh, so wonderfully), and after the show, when Anita and I clinged to eachother in happy tears. There are many, many more, and I can only be grateful: to Mali and her family, for opening their house for us and treating us like their own children, to Mum for her endless patience, to VAMPS for being so awesome and cool and kind, and to Anita, for being the perfect companion and most loving friend.

We took about five million photographs, but I'm only posting a few as there's only so much I can convince my photobucket account to work on one night ¬¬

At the bus station in Merlo, with Anita looking delightfully high on Dramamine.

Me looking glamorous (/sarcasm) in Mendoza (I had my hair coloured just the afternoon before, hence the sleekness)

A view of the Andes mountains, already on the way to Chile. This is the Argentine side, and for the life of me I can't remember the name of that lake.

A main street in Santiago, at around six in the afternoon.

The main doors of the theatre, with the Vamps poster on the right.

Anita and me happily frying our brains under the merciless Chilean sun. (notice the earrings! <3)

Just a glimpse of the amount of people gathered by 11.30 =.=

So obviously Argies :D

Me being stupid on yume_wo_egaku's sofa, trying to play Sherlock on his thinking pose >_>

Anita trying to look hardcore, and failing miserably, at the bus station right before they kicked us out ¬¬

Me, attempting to chomp Haido's head off for putting us in that situation in the first place (all is forgiven now, though).

Anita and I, completely knackered, back in Mendoza's bus station, waiting for our bus at 1.30 am.

There was so much to see and feel in such few days that I'm a little overwhelmed now. We made many new friends, laughed, cried (both with happiness and despair), got mind-numblingly exhausted, and felt like we had walked the entire city of Santiago. I'm paying the price now, with my voice still at less than half its volume, a creeping flu and general sickness, but oh so happy.

I would do it all over again. Hopefully, I will :D

esa musiquita, joy, the beautiful ones, celebrating life, rock que me hiciste mal, places where people gather, petisos hermosos, gente loca, vidita mía, amor chiquito, amores, hyde in my soul
