Well it's been awhile again but things having been going really well lately. I've really been enjoying my job as a nature instructor for P&R, I really like being outdoors and working w/the kids and feeling like I'm actually using my degree for something. Plus it's fun, I really like teaching the Aquatics program where we get to do pond dippings...it's always fun to see what they get anything from the regular *tadpoles and dragonfly nymphs* to the more rare/harder to catch *baby turtles and salamaders* to the slightly gross *leeches* but it's all good. And a lot of the time I feel like I'm not only teaching the kids but often the parents and teachers have lots of questions too. So yea in other words I'm loving it so far.
Plus I have found of about some of the great parks we have around the area that I didn't have a clue about so far! Though I have to say Durant Park has been my favourite to teach at so far...mostly b/c it's pretty close to where I live, fairly large, nice small lake, good trails *without being too long most can be done in 30min to an hour*, and a ton of wildlife!!
Though I think everyone knows this I'm doing a Nature Detectives camp w/P&R for the summer and I'm the camp director. I'm sooooo excited about this. We just started planning so mostly me and my assistant director bouncing ideas off each other about things we could teach them, b/c each week of the camp has a theme. It's been great fun and I'm really enjoying thinking about it all *again I'm using my schooling!* The hard part is just going to be once we have our ideas is the organization and figuring out how to properly relay our ideas and such to the kids in a fun way that they can learn, do games, arts and crafts and being interactive. Coming up w/a schedule for it all and such will be a task but I think overall it's a good process and though overwhelming feeling at times...most of the time I'm just having a great time figuring it all out!!
Also b/c of P&R I get to cut back a few hrs at the Y, which is nice...I really like my job there and most of the time I think it's a great place to work but it's really nice to have just a little break from it too :)
And though my summer is gonna be crazy busy, no Canada this summer *sad* I miss my family a lot, though I'm thinking if I make a reasonable salary and I'm thrifty I might be able to go up and visit in Dec or Jan. Just a thought but I'd love to be able to swing that and see my family again.
But on the plus side in Nov going w/Manda and others to the Supernatural Con!!! I'm sooooo freaking excited about that....I just can't wait to go and I'm sure you all are gonna hear more about it as the date gets closer. But it should be a blast. I can't wait for the show to come back on the season finale was insane!! I love that show soooooo much :)
Anywho that's all I can think of right now so laters!!
